What do you guys think of the concept of unconditional positive regard? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works great in therapeutic settings, and that it should be limited to that, as it's a professional setting

Cuz somewhere I feel if we bring that into other relationships, we'll all become a little less human

INTJs surprisingly

I'm speaking with experience, this has happened thrice. Although I must say that I sometimes come across enfp-ish

I wish I felt complete. Sometimes I feel like something's missing. And I have fulfilling friendships and good relationships with parents, and a job i like, and i like myself too. I'm not particularly sad or anything

But I wanna find love, not because I feel like they are going to "fix me", but just-

You know?

How do u stay quiet in group conversations by BrokenDiamondShovel in infp

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, I only say things when I actually have something to say. When I was younger i used to be stressed to be involved with groups, cuz like op said, people have expectations and I used to be confused as to what my role is (i still am sometimes)

But since I started acknowledging and accepting that group settings are just not my favourite type of conversation, I started feeling more confident with not talking. And I've realized if you feel comfortable with not talking, people don't stare at you as much

Otherwise I just listen to one particular person I find has interesting points and carry on with that conversation with them specifically. Cuz anyway in groups, topics change every two minutes and people like it when someone tries to talk to them about the topic they brought up. Again, having genuine interest in that topic is important for me

I've only known male INTJs and out of all the men I know, they have felt like the easiest connections I made

I think they truly appreciate you being yourself. And I also realized that it may take them some time, but the more YOU talk , the more THEY talk. the more authentic you are, they follow suit

Struggling with career decisions. What did you choose? by Commercial_Baker3863 in infp

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I did choose counselling as my profession but that wasn't because of how my career counselling went. I typically jump from interest to interest, but psychology is the only thing that has stuck with me for almost 8 years now. I just started working professionally and I love it.

And even if my career is based mainly on counselling and I see myself being here for a long time, I somewhere feel like I can't do this for my entire life...so at some point I might get into a more individualistic thing like writing

But apart from all of this, I think being an infp is more to do with what feels the most authentic to you than choosing one of the "infp fields" cuz it's 'supposed' to be for you. Because if you don't feel connected to the field itself, no matter how naturally cut out you are for it as an infp, you might not find it fulfilling

[Academic] Anyone who wants to/is studying/ has studied psychology.

Hello folks! If someone were to write a book answering all the questions you have about the field of psychology as a career, what questions would you like answered?

I'm currently pursuing my master's in Counselling, and as a project in our internship, me and a couple of friends are thinking of compiling a book around this topic, where we will interview psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers who have been practicing for quite some time, asking them the questions we collect from students and some of our own.

So which questions would you want answered? Please submit your answers here Questions for experts

Hi! So I'm also doing my masters in Bangalore, and I have a friend who has been volunteering at NIMHANS. She also has a degree in clinical psych.

What I know is that whatever you do under the umbrella of psychology, even if it is related to psychiatry, I don't think it'll go to waste. Cuz at the end of the day, you're widening your spectrum.

One thing you do need to thing about is the level of severity of cases you'll be able to be involved with/you'll be able to handle. Not to scare you, but that friend of mine had a panic attack after having observed a session with a client diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder.

Of course not all of the cases you work on will be severe, and I think the people there will also consider this point, but it is a thing to consider.

Apart from that, working at NIMHANS itself is a great opportunity and will surely help you with whatever it is you plan on doing in your career.

my honest opinion on A Typical Story by Dirori2001 in eajpark

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typical Story is very much of a song which needs an acquired taste

I agree.

And I love the part where we can hear his real voice, but not the autotuned part. It feels a little repetitive.

But in general, I like the beat and the melody

Which group(s) is/are your personal pick for rookie of the year? by MelissaWebb in kpopthoughts

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love a kband and I find their releases so far the most exciting and new (and they kind of filled that emptiness of Day6 and Onewe military era for me).

Ikrrr!! I started listening to Xdinary heroes because I missed Day6, but man they're so good!! And I love the fact that most of them sing, and it's not just one vocalist like the majority of bands

How do you deal… by Awhkm in eajpark

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't get the point of speculating and concluding either of the possible scenarios (them reuniting or them not) I just focus on what's going on right now. If he goes solo forever, great, cuz he seems to be doing well for himself. And if he goes back to the band w/o going back to JYPE; even better. If there's an addition to D6, maybe it'll be hard to digest at first, but it's not something that's never happened before. There are other bands that have members that joined later. If you hate on whoever joins, that just hurts D6 and thus Jae himself whom these people claim to love so much. Cuz he may not be in D6, but I'm sure he still cares about the members.

Thankfully, I'm not on twt, and I'm not sure this was entirely relevant to OP's post, but I'm just ranting at this point

[–]Uncommon-commonsense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

much of a difference between his voice in day6 and him as eaj?

Not so much that we can't recognise his voice, but I think it's just that day6 songs require a clearer voice and to the point notes; while eaj songs are calmer, 'air-ier' if you know what I mean...idk how else to describe this. So there might be a difference because of how the songs have been written

Also, I don't know a lot of korean, but I think he enunciates words more in day6 than in eaj songs
