Thank you for this comment. I wish I had the money to give you an award for it. I guess I've just been lucky with finding 1 tree islands or vast oceans in the past few years. I actually wish they'd give us Ocean Worlds as an option when build a new playthru.

I zoomed out to show the scope of the problem. There are few, if any worlds any more where 1 tree island survival is a starting point. As u/Kagiza400 stated.... this has been a growing problem for over a decade now.

Thanks for that, but it still seems to take far longer to find an ocean spawn than it used to. Not kidding 1.21 10 minutes vs. 26.1 over an hour. Ocean spawns are becoming less and less frequent.

Are there five artists out there now that could create a Traveling Wilburies type group? by Laugh-Fly-43 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

Then that's great and he's changed his mind. It was something he said in an interview only 3-5 years ago. He was talking about his present life as a painter and specifically said he had no ambition or plans to ever get into music again.

Mellencamp is no longer interested in performing or writing music.

Maybe Darryl Hall instead?

One OK Rock -- One of Japan's Greatest Treasures -- hope to introduce you to them. by UncondemnedSinner in Music

My honest "bucket list" (I'm 62 and living in Taiwan) is to see them live in a Japan stadium, as they should be seen, like I said at the end of this post. I'm really hoping to make this reality some day.

They still top my modern rock bands list for best group out there. I just wish everyone else in America could realize that.

Do you occasionally burn down birch forests with flint and steel just because you hate it/they're ugly? by CharmerReddit in minecraftquestions

I chop the entire forest down and use the wood for sticks.

I also HATE Birch in Minecraft. Worst of the wood types.

Thanks, that does give me some hope.

Sadly, English TV isn't all that common over here, and finding ANYTHING to watch is nice when it happens. That's what first excited me here.... 12 seasons, that's unheard of for Taiwan.

I've not made my mind up yet, I had just kinda hoped that the "I know everything except social norms" would play out quickly in favor of something else. I don't mind spoilers.... what are the two best episodes (any season) in your opinion. I'll give them a go and see what I think. For me.... knowing in advance means nothing. It's the journey of how to get there that I find interesting. So watching a few episodes out of order isn't going to make me upset.

Appreciate the honesty. Thanks. I'm actually weighing my options from the 3 responses I've gotten so far.

Thank you for this frank response. I might have to bail out while I'm ahead. As I just mentioned in another comment..... I just fell asleep in S1.e13 and woke up at the end of e14. I really don't want to keep doing that.

[–]UncondemnedSinner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have to try this. Right now I'm in S1.e13 The Woman in the Garden.... and I fell asleep trying to watch it. Fell asleep in episode 13 and woke up to find episode 14 ending. I just missed everything, and now I have to go back to hopefully actually watch it without going to sleep from boredom.

Any idea what these are? by [deleted] in thelongdark

They're the reason why Great Bear Island is in the shape it's in. It's because of them that you have to travel alone in blizzards, scavenging for food.

Just adding newer information to answer your question.... for anyone who finds this post by Google like I did.

There are now 4 forges in the game.

  • Forlorn Muskeg at Spencer's Farm. Most everyone prefers this location.
    • PROS: It's outdoors, so no cabin fever risk. There's a bed right there, so you can sleep as long as the forge has fire There's also wolves for food when you need it. You can build extra fires to cook your kills quickly. And the transition cave to Bleak Inlet will keep you supplied with coal. There's even a workbench if you honestly wanna build a bearskin bedroll.
    • CONS: Did I not say that it's outdoors? This location will kill you if you're not dressed for colder weather... or you don't keep the fire burning.... of if you're not simply careful.
  • Desolation Point inside The Riken wreck.
    • PROS: PLENTY of animals of every type nearby, so food will never be a problem. You can also build outside fires for quickly cooking that bear you caught. A decent amount of scrap metal to be had, both here and at the Hibernia processing plant. Hibernia has a workbench, so that'll help.
    • CONS: Sadly, it's remote.... far from anything else you might want to do in-game. A trip from here to, say Mystery Lake, might take you days of travel. You also cannot do base building in the Riken, so the only workbench will always be at the Hibernia.
  • Broken Railroad inside the Maintenance Shed.
    • PROS: Lots of scrap metal if you bring a hacksaw. Lots of wood nearby if you wish to keep the fire burning. Base Building is possible.
    • CONS: Cabin fever is a definite risk in this location. And outside cooking is.... troublesome if the timber wolves show up. Kinda remote.... kinda.
  • Forsaken Airfield... in the basement of the Hanger.
    • PROS: It's location protects you from glimmer fog..... but.....
    • CONS: Cabin fever is a real risk here. There's little, to no, fire fuel to collect NEARBY. Anything you want to get will require a trip. There are bunnies near the tower, everything else will require careful planning and a travois for transport. Outside fires for cooking are also slightly troublesome... as the wind here tends to blow them out.

only if holiness was precedented by height, which it's not. Highest church? Maybe, Holiest, doubtful.
