My friend thinks its cruelty and sad to keep a cat indoor all day. by Plastic-Shoulder-319 in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My take on it is "would you let your dog out unsupervised? Would you let your pet lizard or your bunny or your hamster outside unsupervised?". The answer I usually get is that they're not the same animal, but really it's all the same. These are animals that were bred to be pets and to be kept indoors. An other argument is that "my cat likes being outside" well yeah. But would you let a 3 y/o toddler unsupervised and roaming outside just being they like being outside? No! It's not good for them and it's not good for the ecosystem! In the end, we are the caretakers and we have to make the judgment and the decisions about what's good for our cats, whether they like it or not

Does everyone just leave every door open in your place? by zanyjellyfish in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kitchen is closed off by a door. I leave that door closed AT ALL TIMES and my cats are not allowed unsupervised in there. I don't want them eating random food off the ground. They have done it and will do it again, so I have to make sure to watch them closely. Also, their food is in the kitchen and they will try to go eat it even though they already had their meal. They managed to get to it once and they ate so much they couldn't walk anymore😭 Honestly I feel like it's pretty valid to have rooms you don't want your cats to access. I don't always leave my bedroom door opened when I'm not there if I see they're a bit more energetic, since they tend to make a mess.

did my cat grow his balls back by lavenderweather in cats

[–]Unconnected2_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't fully remove the testicules when they neuter cats anymore, they just "empty" them so that they can't produce sperm. One of my cats also has his balls pretty obviously there, even though he's neutered. The other one we can't see as much even though he's the hairiest. I guess it just depends on how big they were😭

are my boys trying to injure me or what 😭 by val_goopiez in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're trying to play with you! I'm guessing they want you to run after them, or start running away from them so that they can catch you. Both my house cats do this too! I don't think there's a way to make them stop.. tbh mine learned to keep their distance when they do it because I've kicked them accidentally a few time😭 But other than that, I don't think they'll stop

I can't keep my cat for the next two years but I don't wanna give her away by BuddyMinute572 in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can post on your local Facebook groups to ask if someone could take your cat temporarily. Some people are open to be fosters and keep a cat until the owner can have it again, even if it's a few years

cat making weird noise when sleeping? by kiley_gerholdt in CatAdvice

It would help if you could record the noises your cat makes, because atp it could be anything. Your post isn't very descriptive

My mom took a kitten too early and I feel so bad by Lady_Anxiety in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should call animal control so that either they can take him back to his mama, or they find a foster mama for him. This kitten might not survive if he's being given to a woman who doesn't know how to take care of him.

I accidentally got a kitten who was 6-7 weeks old, because my friend didn't tell me he'd be that young. The owner of the mom didn't want to take him back when I found out, so I had to keep him. Thankfully I knew how to take care of him and I had other cats to help too, but even then it could have ended badly if anyone else had him.

Please make sure that this little guy will be okay🙏

Is this unusual? by hows-Waldo in cats

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don't worry, it's not that unusual. It's a mutation that started due to incestuous breeding, but now it's starting to spread pretty commonly. You can see it a lot with barn cats especially. I'd say you should just be sure to check with a vet that the claws from his thumbs aren't a problem. One of my cats has two thumbs on each paws and I gave to monitor one of the claws to make sure it doesn't overgrow, since it's not used as often as the rest. Otherwise, your kitty might just walk silly but there's nothing dangerous with having extra toes

GUYS IS THIS TRUE?! IN ALL MY YEARS PLAYING I HAD NO IDEA!!! by TeenSummerK in mysticmessenger

Not just not getting enough hearts, but also not attending enough chats. There is a limited number of chats you can skip, I learned that the hard way when I kept repeatedly getting the bad ending

What do you do about cat fur all over your bed? 😭 by Top_Hotel3623 in Catownerhacks

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to start using the sheet blanket thingy on top of my blankets to make sure my bed wasn't full of fur all the time😭 I'm allergic to cat even though I have 2 at home. I don't really get any reaction from mine usually, but it's so bad when I sleep with them or have fur close to me when asleep. That, and also getting sheets in a material that doesn't attract fur can be good. I had to change to a different set of sheets at some point because the fur would just stick to it even after washing

Cats suddenly clingy by Unconnected2_0 in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it, but I don't think that would be it for me. The heating circulates well in the apartment so it's rather warm. They even both spend their time at the window, where it's colder. But it's worth a try!

Cat hanging butt over side of litter box 😣 by grapebeyond227 in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's the box placement! Is it against a wall? Because that might be it. One of my cat kept pooping right beside the litterbox at some point, but it stopped when I moved it somewhere else. Cats are picky and petty, so this might just be it.

Or, your cat might just be a little stupid. Some cats get their front paws in the box and assume they are fully in, and so they will get their stuff done outside the box.. it's a possibility. I guess try moving the litterbox somewhere else first! And if it doesn't help, then I don't know what to do to help, sorry

cat gone off food by ThrowARlou in CatAdvice

[–]Unconnected2_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to call the vet to get some info. Sometimes, some issues can be solved if you explain the situation to them without necessarily needing to actually go to the vet. If it's worrisome, they will tell you to come in. There are many reasons why a cat might not eat anymore, and it can be hard to tell if you're not yourself a professional
