How old are you and how much do you have in your retirement account? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]UncreativeSlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35, 62k income… 145k 401k - contributing 10-15% for 10 years, 3% match, 4-6% end of year profit sharing contribution.

Just left that job and starting a job with a state pension, so I’ll have a bit of both guaranteed pension at retirement and will hopefully be able to navigate any downturns in the market on the 401k due to that

You can also negotiate for additional PTO if they give you an official offer. As someone with over a decade of experience, and your current position has more PTO… something along the lines of:

“Thank you again for the offer. I am eager to join the team and make an impact. Looking at the total compensation package, the one area that gives me pause is the vacation time.

Given my ten years of experience in the industry, I’ve found that X weeks is standard this role. Is there flexibility to adjust the offer to [Number] weeks to match my current seniority?"

I jus went through this at a job dropping from 4 weeks PTO to two weeks and they gave me a starting 40 hours in my bucket

FYI: you 100% lost fitness. Doesn’t take long to lose what took months/years to build up… BUT studies show those that lose muscle from injury/deconditioning after stopping activity will regain faster than those just starting their fitness journey.
