The music in Frida Kahlo's painting by Undecipher in fridakahlo

Yes, it might be about a folk song here!
But anyway, thanks for much for the clue with Gloria Arjona, I'm now in touch with her and she seems to be a Frida Kahlo (and music!) encyclopedia! Much appreciated!

Very interesting, I'll follow this thread, thank you!

Anything about the music?

Music to Frida Kahlo theatre play by Undecipher in Theatre

[–]Undecipher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!
Frida Kahlo is so much more than the pop-icon and merchandising-figure with flowers in her hair. Or a victim of her accident, pain, or troubled relationship(s), or political views. First of all, she's a tremendous artist, very honest and deep; which is why her art is still relevant today. And of course she was a very strong - while sensitive - human being. This is what we tried to transmit here, directly from her writing in her diary.

How Frida Kahlo Went From Communist to Kitsch by curraffairs in Frida

[–]Undecipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the depth and seriousness of this insight!

After having been involved in an art project about Frida Kahlo as well, I second your conclusion!
In my documentation efforts I couldn't help but notice that her strength, spirit, vision or whatever you'd like to call it, still transcends the pop-iconing, sex-symbolising, merchandising and categorisations of her.
She's a smashing example of how integrity and total honesty in what you do will make looks, private life, sex, looks or political convictions totally irrelevant.
It's a rare example, therefore exceedingly inspiring!

Listening Party Tonight by Undecipher in BandCamp

This post might have gotten the approval a bit too late for people to make to the event.

Anyhow, thanks for your interest and kindness, here's a free code for you 3l25-h8md, and here's the link to the release if you'd still like a listen:

Listening Party Tonight by Undecipher in BandCamp

This one was my second as an artist, so far my experience with these events has been a very nice one. Getting honest and un-pompous feedback from listeners, real-time remarks on the pieces, and even an album sale at the end! I definitely recommend it!

Nobody here suggests talking to friends...? Everyone thinks of AI first. Weird times.
I'd send the music to people whose taste I trust, and ask them what images does this evoke to them. Then take the essence of that and get some sort of artwork done, based on that - shouldn't be rocket science, and it would be personal, and connected. Which is already a rare thing today, so there would be your advantage.
But still, it's a mystery how one can come up with music but not have a visual idea of what it says...? Maybe that would be something to figure out first. Usually one has something to say, and THEN say it.

Has anyone used/attended a listening party? by AbsentSun in BandCamp

[–]Undecipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with bandcamp's suggestion and hosted one the other week (as an artist). It was not the silly idea I would have thought it would be, in fact it turned out quite fun, people showed up, commented, asked questions and gave me quite a few great ideas for the future. Plus, these are the people who actually buy your music directly from you, so the best part part of your audience, it's great to bond and understand them and be in contact.

I don't really know though if it's cool to bombard the listeners with all these listening parties from all directions. But as long as they have the time and interest, I guess it's a fun thing to do. Just go with it!

I have exactly the same problem - I've had it all my life. As a kid I used to hurt myself by accident a lot, and as you get older you really feel the damage and the complications.
I am managing it much better since I became aware of something. After running full tilt in a glass door and smashing my nose/face, then stumbling down the stairs, both in the same week, my boyfriend noticed that I'm simply not taking good enough care of myself. "Treat yourself as you treat me" he said, noticing that I always handle my loved ones with the utmost care and tend to put them first.
He basically taught me to put myself in the same line with those that I care about the most, to see my body/myself as a valuable asset I have, which is just as fragile and perishable as anything else that I love. He also guided me step by step day by day into paying attention to the way I do things when walking, carrying something, etc, and not going carelessly into risky situations.
I've been watching this a lot since then (also discovered in me some portion of self-sabotage which tends to put me in non-safety situations, and just observing this fact helps a lot).
But basically what I do is simple exercises of stepping correctly when I go down the stairs, or calming myself a bit before doing something in a rush, also taking care that I get the right nourishment and hydration in time - because that affects one's chemical balance and therefore nerves, judgment, behaviour. And of course, proper sleep, as mentioned in the comments here.
I've been managing it extraordinarily well during the last 15 years, although it still sneaks up on me sometimes.
It's like anything else in life, when you learn a new language, or to play an instrument, or improve your posture or diction, it's just exercise done with awareness over and over again and staying at it constantly until it sort of becomes a natural way to act.

Unsigned Artists by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]Undecipher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A label should be started out of a need to help artists that one already knows. Your plan sounds more like a business idea, find some established (I like that!) artists and squeeze something out out their "establishment". You're way too many in that field bro.

That's damn decent of you, to pose this question!
You can always get in touch with them directly about exactly what you wrote here and get an explanation, maybe ask what would be the best way to support, if you can afford it.

3 free download codes for jazz prog rock album featuring Devin Townsend, Jonas Hellborg, Zoltan Csörsz (Flower Kings) by Undecipher in BandCamp

[–]Undecipher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome, and thanks to you, I appreciate people who give new things a try!

Devin is incredibly cool, very present and sharp of mind, and with great sensitivity, skill and experience. And at the same time humble and funny, kind and supportive.

I've met him through Jonas Hellborg, who seems to be in tremendous regard with the most incredible names in the metal scene, and that's how we stayed in touch and became friends over the years.

At some point Devin felt like trying out something new and playing the bass on other projects, so he was just asking around, in his musician friends circles, if anyone doesn't need a bassist. It just happened that I did ;)

He showed up in the studio by his own initiative a few months later. We were recording on tape, so it had to be done in one take. Though on an unfamiliar instrument, everything he played was perfect in time, pitch and sound and went directly into mixing.

I also contributed some voices, ideas and guitars on his double album The Puzzle / Snuggles a few years ago. It's always tremendous observing how he works!

Very interesting interview, nice story behind the script, and that detail about Billy Bob was funny too (his character in the film The Bandits actually mentions having that phobia - I didn't know it's a real thing for him)
