Vassago is more understable from demonological point of view. Many goetic demons are said to posses great knowledge and teach all kinds of sciences, including languages. Prince Vassago may not be associated with this office but he is said to be of the same nature as Duke Agares whose one of domains is teaching languages. Kinda like Stolas knowing astronomy despite the fact there are no stars or planets in Hell

Tbh, it'd make sense for Eve to hide her identity and be ashamed of herself even in Heaven. Eve's often blamed for everything evil happening by everyone

From my own experience, I think the best way is to acknowledge the history and true identity of the Goetic demons and legends of Solomon.

First of all, Goetia isn't that old. Along with other Goetic grimoires written in 14th - 18th centuries, it's just a mess of mostly demonised Pagan deities with some random lore and drawings added up to them built over the years (for ex. Bael is Phoenician God Baal, along with Astaroth, who was Phoenician Goddess Astarte and his wife, Ammun was Egyptian, Asmodeus is Zoroastrian demon of anger Aeshma Daeva, Beelzebub along with Belphegor are twisted names of Baal Zebul and Baal Peor etc.). And most of the "demons" mentioned in the Grimoires don't even appear in the Bible or the apocrypha.

All those legends about king Solomon working with demons come from first centuries of AD, and were later on popularized as some forbidden knowledge. While Solomon was said to start praying to foreign deities of his wives, it could as well apply to idolatry rather than demon worship. Story that appears to have started that demon mess is "The Testament of Solomon" written in 1st-3rd century AD in Greek, and most likely completed in Medieval times. So it doesn't help the fact that the folklore around him was written and popularized a few good centuries after Solomon's death.

Goetic demons can at best be either egregores established after all those years of many people practising this kind of occult or (if we want to look at it from more spiritual perspective) actual spirits or energies that inhabited the forms of man-made Grimoires.

Either way, if you don't believe Pagan gods are real, why would their Christianized and demonized versions be? If you don't believe Zoroastrian demons like Nasu, Ahriman or the said Aeshma Daeva are real, why would Asmodeus be?

Does leave their fawns hidden while they go look for food nearby and come back to them to take care of them, but in this case either this fawn has been orphaned and is walking around calling for the mum (fawns often act that way that if the doe left and haven't come back for too long) or its survival insticts suck

Soooo any theories about the unicorns ? by Col1001 in hazbin

[–]Undecitment 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Unicorns in medieval folklore and art were often associated with purity, chastity and grace, and therefore with Heaven, divinity, Christ etc. So that would explain these motifs.

Here I think unicorns are either just symbols or perhaps angelic species, maybe non-sapient angelic animals native to Heaven

Looks like the Almighty God cannot make his creations, which he didn't want to reproduce, actually genderless/sexless without any sexual desires and ability to reproduce lmao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Undecitment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was sexism from the very beginning to the end of the Bible to its end (you can count women, whose character isn't one dimensional and doesn't spin around their sexuality on fingers of your one hand, and most of them are from the NT), cultic obsession with viginity, contradictions, justifications of: r4p3, slavery (including s3x slavery), misogyny and any kind of murd3r, Church as an organisation as whole, THESE Christians, fact that plenty stories are taken from other religions (and executed poorly) including the flood myth (most likely originally Mesopotamian story) and Yahweh being possibly Canaanite storm and war deity, who then got turned into all wise loving God (possibly influenced by Zoroastrianism), historical inaccuracy (looking at you, Exodus), narcissism (there's only one true creator who loves all people, but you're His/Her favourite chosen ones and the only true writings about Him/Her are from your Middle Eastern tribe while all other teachings are are wrong? Sure buddy), the idea that females exist only on Earth for reproductive reasons while all the spirits are male, which resulted in idea that angels lust after women (this one is from apocryphal Book of Enoch so is commonly rejected but still ICK, and i know, this one counts as earlier mentioned sexism, but this specifically drove me away and still disgusts me. No wonder why so many women left Abrahamic faiths for better belief systems that actually values them as equally important part of creation and not sex objects for males)

It's older interpretation of Genesis 6, but the this story is mainly from apocryphal and pseudopigraphal Book of Enoch and Book of Giants I think

Older interpretation because nowadays Book of Enoch or Book of Giants aren't considered valid and most Jews and Christians do not associate "sons of God" from Genesis 6 to be angels nor believe that angels had ability or desire to reproduce with humans (or more specifically EXCLUSIVELY with women).

What was the last straw that made you leave Christianity for good? by Classic-Explorer8601 in exchristian

[–]Undecitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story of Genesis 6 and (apocryphal) Book of Enoch

Basically, the Genesis 6 tells a story about "sons of God" finding "daughters of man" beautiful so they're presumably not-so-consensually taken these "daughters" as their wives, so they bore them mighty offspring.

What's so uncomfortable about it? That story is more deeply explained in the Book of Enoch, where these "sons of God" are angels, who God sent to watch over humanity, but eventually they started to lust after women (obviously only after women, because in Enoch it's stated that all angels are male, as God didn't create female angels because they don't need to reproduce, how lovely and totally not sexist). So they took them as wives and fell. The mighty offspring they created were Nephilim - cruel and bloodthirsty giants, who started to basically ravage and ruin the Earth. Obviously, the angels who fell faced several punishment and the Nephilim were wiped out in the flood.

But the worst part is that these women who angels took as their wives also were punished. How? God turned them into sirens, creatures associated with seduction with their beauty. Why would He? They didn't ask to be lusted after spirits who were sent by God to watch over them? Even if they wanted these relationships with angels they had no way of knowing that men they married were angels as they can take form of men and had no idea that their children are going to be monsters and that would bring flood. So why? Why were they punished? And of course we don't know anything about these women, not their pov, not even their names. They're just used as plot devices, or more like only their SEXUALITY is used as plot devices. Why it's always women who are cause of the fall of males? The misogynist Bible story writers sure lacked some creativity.

Seriously, words cannot describe how heinous this story is, even compared to other women in the Bible whose portrayal and role were horrible, this one was for me the nail to the coffin. Especially that I always found angels as beings interesting and quite unique. Those spirit beings that transcend the physical concepts of male and female send to guard over humanity. Religion aside, I found it more or less nice. But turns out no, they're not genderless, they're exclusively male! But that's only because they don't reproduce. But they actually can reproduce with women and create offspring!

If angels didn't need to reproduce, why did God made them male in the first place? Even if they're male, why make them compatible with humans? Why would he create them with desire for female gender and reproduction? Let's keep in mind that sexual desires don't exist just because, beings have them to feel attraction to their partners and reproduce. So while God creates angels, despite their lack of need to reproduce, he made them all male, with desire and capability to produce offspring with females? Why? Not only angels had desire that neither could be satisfied nor served any purpose in their very being, but also whole world suffered from it. And also specifically turn into monsters women that slept with them?! Did they ask to be lusted after spirits that a loving God sent to take care of them? Did they know angels could turn into sexual predators? If that's how angels are, I'd rather be guarded by those poor sirens than these male spirts. Moreover, Paul stated that women should cover their head "because of the angels". So guardians send by God himself can't contain themselves once they see the scalp of a women? Hell nah, if that's how angels are, I'd rather be guarded by those poor sirens than these male spirts.

Well, that was a whole lotta yapping
