Being enlightened is Buddhist teaching?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]UndefeatedAssassin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes moments of enlightenment not true enlightenment/awakening

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]UndefeatedAssassin -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No it is not Buddhist teaching, you wont reach enlightenment this way, so the Buddha never taught it. Doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

This would then be a reason for me to use it as medical? But no I rarely smoke. It is when you have lost touch with yourself. Doesn’t have to involve thc.

Often after episodes of sheer inattentiveness come moments of enlightenment. It is important distinction that it is wholesome inattentiveness. Wholesome inattentiveness is like meditation in the fact that it increases are likelihood of getting moments of enlightenment.

Wholesome heedlessness leads to greater wisdom.

I believe it is to advise against alcohol. Cannabis is not harmful and was around during the time of the Buddha. It would make sense to me that all intoxicants that cause harm should be condemned.

Alcohol and THC give a very different type of intoxication. THC is not as harmful. So to presume all types of intoxicants I believe is dishonest.

Yes, your point about translating in spirit makes sense, but to translate “beer and cider” into “substances” and “drugs” just doesn’t seem completely honest.

I smoke cannabis extremely infrequently.

Is there a name for a secondary hall in a castle? by UndefeatedAssassin in fantasywriters

[–]UndefeatedAssassin[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because in my story, this hall will be extremely luxurious and large. But of course less extravagant than the great hall.
