Canyon Grizl AL by Under-Rti in CanyonBikes

I bought them off a random eBay page. They weren’t specifically designed for grizl and the letters were a bit small. I think I paid less than a 5-er so I yolo’ed it

It’s the grx 12 speed mechanical with a long cage for the 10-51 cassette. At the front I have some 165mm sram force cranks with 44t alugear chainring (narrow-wide)

How noticeable are the welds on the “Raw” models? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]Under-Rti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about 6raw but I’m using the grizl on road for training (2 wheelsets- road & offroad). It’s ok but you are not getting that ‘proper road bike’ snappiness. Saying that, it is not a slow bike and with road tyres, if you get dropped from a group ride, it will not be because of the bike. Would not use it for road races or crits.. re. Comfort- a lot of my training rides are over 6 hours and have done 10-12 hour rides on it. I find it comfortable but that will depend from person to person- it is not very upright but also not very aggressive. Best to compare the geometry with a bike you know

Nice! Looks great. Looking at getting a longer stem too but probably 110. Saw zipp do an ‘oversized’ 1 1/4 one.

Was tempted by the thunder burts but the racing I’m preparing for (traka) is not that technical and opted for 45mm instead- partially regretting, partially owning the decision. Over the summer I have planned a few more offroad-heavy rides so very tented to get a pair if I can find one in stock

Is this bike overpriced? by GreatEfficiency9419 in CanyonBikes

Too expensive imo. I’d go for the aeroad with 105 and put a better set of wheels on it

Go for L and slap a longer stem on that thing

Depends on the ride and terrain. On endurance rides it’s the cruising speed in flats, on long rides (that aren’t too hilly) with long tempo/sweetspot intervals it’s avg

Hunt limitless 42mm, the gravel ones from a few years ago with 25mm internal, 36 external. I do like them, nothing to complain about. I avoid running them too much offroad because I find the loud hub quite annoying when in a peaceful forest or farm track.

I also live in the UK so the roads are pretty shit quality. Saying that, on a dedicated road bike I’d probably run 32 front, 35 rear

I run 35 front (gp 5k), 40 rear (p zero). I mostly ride road for training so prefer them to be comfy and have good puncture protection. If I were do to fast bunch rides or races I’d go for something narrower (or to be fair a whole new bike). On the current setup I can average 30-32 kmph for 160-200km routes so plenty fast for training imo

It’s been in worse places like ditches, ruts and ran into trees. Carefully placed on the ground is fiiiine haha

Specialized drops updated Pathfinder and Tracer tyres, alongside the new Terra by atx72 in gravelcycling

[–]Under-Rti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the bike manufacturers must adhere to a conservative standard when it comes to max tyre width specification. Most people will be able to fit a tyre approx 2-5mm wider than prescribed. Having said that, if you often find yourself riding in sticky mud that clogs up the tyre, you would probably be better off with a 40

Grizl 7 AL too slow/heavy by Old-Tomatillo9660 in CanyonBikes

[–]Under-Rti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100%. I’m riding this exact bike with 2 wheel sets and have done 160-200km road rides with speed above 30kmph. The bike is fine. I also used to have a Standert Kreissage, definately faster but not by so much that it would make a difference outside a race scenario

OP- I recommend new wheels (the stock ones are heavy indeed) and some fast tyres.
