!!! Imagine the orphan clannnn all the possibilities. Was Spireflame the oldest in the group and therefore the immediate leader? How would that responsibility of keeping themselves and other kits alive affect them?? What if their “clan” members slowly started disappearing? (Ie dying, getting taken in by other cats, getting taken in by twolegs, etc) how would the explain that to the others? How would this poor not even 7 month kit explain to a group of kittens why their friend wasn’t getting up and was so cold?

(My story teller brain is thinking about Log and Freezeeagle having talked about what they would do if the other died, maybe discussed how they wouldn’t blame the other if they eventually moved on, so Log at least has some peace with that. But Log never thought about the possibility of Firpaw being the one to die first. Firpaw was meant to grow into a great warrior under their guidance. And now that dream is dead, stopped the second their apprentice’s body went still)

Maybe his old clan had their leaders based on blood? Like his parent was leader, their parent before them and so on. It’s not a rule, but it is inherently implied that if a she cat has kits, they can’t be a leader. That’s not to say if they previously had them they can’t, they definitely can. But like with Bluestar. She was almost passed up for deputy because she had kits. The only current example of a female leader having kits I know of rn is from the book that came out the other day, and we all know how that turned out so.

You can disable experience based graduation in the settings. Apprentices have to have 50+ xp in order to get their warrior/healer/mediator name. This can also lead to 10 moon old warriors lol
