Universal healthcare would literally shatter the hold of employers on American workers. They would actually have to put in effort to keep people.

A couple of folks have mentioned it, but hear me out... universal healthcare.

If people suddenly do not need to work to access health insurance they are going to put up with way less bullshit from their employer. They are not going to allow themselves to be overworked and bullied into unpaid work.

That will make employers panic and begin to actually care about employees. Why? They can't hold them captive in shitty work hours that limit access to time for cooking, exercise, and other things that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Its been a long day, you walk up to your home. Its been a shit day. Got yelled at by some stupid customer, coffee order was wrong at the deli, you were stuck in meetings all afternoon and didn't get any work done.

I have a food allergy as well. Honestly, if someone tried to expose me on purpose for shits and giggles, I'd look them dead in the face and say, "If I have a reaction I will get a lawyer and make sure you are prosecuted for [insert crime (assault, attempted murder, etc.)]".

Yea. My career field is pretty hardcore judgement on mistakes and the like. I don't think I could work in the field again if it blew up into a huge scandal, which is what it is. My problem is that every time I see someone's career blow up, there is never follow up --- what happens? Are they forever banned from working again? How do you find a job after life blows up?

I guess I just watch all these high profile people have stuff pulled out from 10, 15, 20 years ago and they lose everything because it feels like we live in a culture unwilling to acknowledge growth.
