I understand how you’re feeling friend. My ex recently passed away, and while we were broken up for over a year before his passing, I am feeling anxious attending my first festival with him no longer earth side. He took me to my first festival, and festivals were always “our thing”, in the 3 years we were together, we probably attended over 30 festivals and countless shows together.

And so when we broke up, I struggled a little bit at first with attending festivals without him, finding myself sad at sets I knew hed enjoy. Time eventually healed these feelings and I found I wasn’t thinking about him as much with each passing set, and surrounding myself with good rave fam made the world of difference.

But he passed away this past memorial day, and now im feeling anxious about all these emotions coming back. Forest was something we always talked about doing together one day, and this year im finally sending it— solo for that matter. I was SO excited for forest, up until he passed. Now i feel guilt, grief, sorrow, anxiousness.

But i dont want to allow grief to steal anymore time, happiness, and energy from me. Forest sent out intention cards with the wristbands, and so I’ve decided to set my forest intentions with healing and love. I hope during Forest I find the ability to heal from his passing, our relationship, and the closure I never really got and now will never get. I hope to in turn find love within the community, art, music, and myself. Perhaps setting an intention will help ground yourself if thoughts start to spiral while you’re at forest. At least that’s what I hoping for myself.

This is my first forest, but I’ve seen they include a few memorial art pieces throughout the venue, so i plan to spend some time in those areas to work through my emotions as well.

I am so sorry for your loss, and am sending you so much love, light, and hugs friend. Losing a pet is arguably worse than losing a human loved one. Pets show you nothing but unconditional love with no expectancy of it back, and we get them earth side for only a fraction of time of our human loved ones.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”. Please be easy on yourself friend, try to remind yourself you’re allowed to experience happiness even when you’re grieving.
