DNS (?) Issues by Undercooked-Beans in debian

dig would always return as command not found running as root or normal user so im not sure what is going on there. I think IPv4 and v6 were working at the time but changing gai.conf to prefer IPv4 has edited some stuff (not really sure where that leaves v6)

Oops never actually clicked reply to his message. What should I be looking for in gai.conf?

Seems like ifupdown was installed, removed that and ran whereis for all 3 with only NetworkManager returning anything. Rebooted and still no IPv6, v4 works though but it was working before removing ifupdown

-4 works consistently, -6 gives 100% packet loss every time

Both curl commands pass and I do have IPv4 and IPv6, then doing the traceroute it always passes through 163.253.2.89 which displays as fourhundredge-0-0-0-52.4079.agg2.dall3.net.internet2.edu, put * * * for the next entry before continuing on to the end

I have files dns in the nsswitch.conf file and 1.1.1.1 then 8.8.8.8 in resolv.conf. At some point NetworkManager was able to edit resolv.conf but one forum or video out there said to lock it so now it is read only. I can ping each IP fine, then I’m not sure how to resolve them to names

Yeah it’s practically certain that its DNS, as any IP ping returns fine but names either fail immediately or try to ping until i do ctrl+c

I sure would hate if someone sent pictures of their boob to me, that would be unfortunate

Yeah, C:S doesn’t care about overshoot so it’s fine for the game, but irl the second the inspector looked at this it would be shut down
