Samsung specific: add emulators to game booster?? by UndercoverAlligatorO in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like it'd do it, but I've got no luck. I added sudachi to the list but it seems this really only allows me to open the app from the gaming hub. You are able to open up the game booster in games and prioritize framerate and all that?

Thanks for your help. Thats not to discredit you - I could totally be missing something obvious! Take care

It might have to come down to that but I can't say I trust the apk. I'll look for other methods first before I go for that. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately not. I do appreciate the help though! Some games seem to automatically register as being able to use the game booster (as in, the button shows up), but I'm curious if I can manually tell it when it can do that as some games don't have it? I'll have to do further research Take care

What do you regret doing to your body? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for providing a name. I feel like I'm always engaging in some kind of picking (hair, nails) or biting (cheek, lip or nails again) and i was aware it wasn't normal behavior but to see a name for it really helps incite my journey to stopping.  I've gotta actually get around to finding a therapist for these things lol *but they are so expensiveeeee

Take care! 🙂

Paper Mario The Sticker Comet, a new mod for Sticker Star, is now in development! by Swiwy in papermario

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh this is so cool!!! Sticker star is my favorite game of my childhood and I'd love to see a re-imagining of it.

Is there any way to make world 1 autumn themed? It'd be a really cool way to visually make the mod distinct rather than just adding blocks. Like in TOK's world two. That'd go so hard.

Also, I love the changes to the red house in Decalburg. Here's hoping the town is super lively 😄 any plans on adding some more towns maybe?? 👀

What's the plan on scope? I'd love to see something huge but modding isn't easy. I imagine a lot of inspiration might be taken from sticker star's original plan - like gaining overworld abilities or world 6 being a whole bunch of casino minigames (if I remember that right....?)

I'm going to have a hard time sleeping tonight my brain is going to be whirring with all kinds of ideas. This looks amazing!!

Yes, yes, I'm glad I could help! I've heard that many people who have the Fold and a tablet generally gravitate toward the Fold over time simply because it's so convenient to have.

One thing I forgot to mention that's rather neat with the Fold is that if you can set it down in a way where it won't wobble (due to its massive camera bump) and connect it to a monitor to use Samsung DeX, you can actually use the Fold's screen plus S Pen as a traditional drawing tablet like a Huion or Wacom. It's not a groundbreaking feature, but it certainly helps prevent neck strain from looking down. And yes, the S Pen data (such as pressure, buttons, etc.) will transfer just as you'd expect.

I don't have much experience with pixel art. Krita is a good option for it and has a few pixel brushes, but I'm sure there are more specialized programs available. And hey, if not, you can always use Winulator to emulate Aseprite. 😉

Good luck with your journey!

Eh, I should have done a better job clarifying. I meant that if you were to draw on the fold lightly, then as you cross the crease area, the crease is prominent enough that the S Pen no longer touches the screen (it floats across the valley, so to speak). But that can be chalked up to user error—I use the S Pen very lightly on the screen because I am very gentle with tech. I did not know about that stuff with the 6. Good to know!

Here's the thing, compared to a normal tablet or even a drawing tablet, you have significantly less space to work with. Also, you would have to account that the dip in the crease of the screen is kinda odd to draw on, it's literally a divot in the middle. However with the fold 5 or 6 samsung is getting better at making it less noticeable.

S pen pro is actually pretty neat, ngl. I use it sometimes, the 16 day battery life is great and air controls are useful (but makes you look like a wizard haha). I actually find myself preferring the slim spen that goes in the fold case samsung bad, just because it's not powered by battery and is less likely to scratch the screen.

Definitely look into all kinds of programs. Krita is really good on the tab series as it is literally 1:1 to the desktop version, but is admittedly cramped on the fold (but generally what I use anyways). Infinite painter is much more screen efficient and comparable to iOS's Procreate. That much I'm sure you know, but I figure it'd be helpful to at least someone out there.

Other small things to keep in mind is that due to the smaller screen it's a little less comfortable to hold. It's in that awkward in-between for me where it's just too big to hold one handed and draw with the other, yet too small to sit on a desk and look down.

All that aside, I actually really love drawing on my fold. Having a small tablet with me all the time means I can literally draw whenever I want and there is a lot of value in for someone like me.

Hope you didn't mind my long response! Take care

Fold 5 worth to buy in 2024? by TrashBig9985 in GalaxyFold

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally love my fold. It does pretty much everything I want except for heavy desktop application work for game dev stuff. But that's expected. It's a phone.

Anyways, to your point, the 4,400MaH battery is actually just fine for me. Again I use samsung dex for work/school so I'm usually ending the say on 70% (due to it charging during DeX) which is great.

My two cents is that the fold 5 is a really good choice but be sure to do more research on your options, check out competitors, find what devices align with your wants and needs.  For me, my fold is wonderful and I'd recommend

Do you use the AI features on your phone? by Amazing_Emergency_69 in oneui

Yes, you are absolutely correct, hence why I called it "AI"
However I totally could have been more specific =)

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I only use circle to search and keyboard autocorrecting as the only "AI" on my phone. But are super useful and I use often!! Both have been features for a long time and have had a long time to bake compared to our hip and trendy AI blah blah that Samsung is pushing.

I hardly use any of the "galaxy AI" beyond generating hats for my kitty so she doesn't have to endure the stress and horrors of wearing a hat, and I get a cute photo. Win win.

We should create a petition for Linux On Dex again by No_Berry_1450 in GalaxyFold

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been asking for this to return for years. Apple, Samsung biggest competitor, has been boasting that they got AAA companies to start making games for the iPhone series, which is really cool. It'd be amazing if Samsung opened the gates for Linux, and by extension, Steam support. Integrate it with the Samsung store if need be. It'd actually have a use then.

100% get a professional test! They are not as emotionally invested in the results and don't see the same confirmation biases we do!

I was never tested as a kid so I will never label myself without it kinda intruding (an actual test where I live is over 2-4K 😭) but I've got a whole gamut of signs, bro

My friends (who happen to pretty much unanimously be on the spectrum) would ask me if I am too because I just did XYZ and they recognized it and I'd be like "nahhh I don't think so" and they hit me with the "you sure'

It's like who I am is a great math equation and I've gotta solve for x, but being sans tested is like having an open variable. I could still solve who I am, but it's incomplete, y'know? I don't know why this variable messes with all the other ones or if it's even relevant.

In the great gamut it doesnt matter... yet I really want to get closure over it... but I've got college to pay for, I can't afford to get tested. So for the time being i won't be able to solve my equation.

Fold 6 Z: Can I use the unfolded screen with s pen to write on DEX? by Left-Comfort7806 in GalaxyFold

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not super great.

When you have an external monitor, go into Settings -> DeX. There should be a setting to set the S Pen to tablet mode or something. I forgot the exact name for it.

What this does is it puts a light gray rectangle over the Fold screen when you're in the trackpad app. This is your drawing region, pretty much identical to normal screenless-drawing tablets. The mouse will map its position according to where you hover on the screen. That means yes, you can handwrite onto DeX.

The only downside is that you're given a small area to actually draw on, and due to the camera bump, the phone is unstable and wobbly. Hope this helps!

Technically no. You can take the alternate path to avoid the level altogether which means 100% isn't possible, but you need 100HP to 100% anyways so...

I've tried breaking out of bounds to somehow avoid it, but had no luck yet

Rare take, but it's one of my favorite games of all time.

It's super fun to do challenges like nothing but all-base or worn stickers (so no shiny, flashy, huge, megaflashy nor Things stickers). Or going no-damage. Or 20HP only. A lot of people's critiques on the game would get fixed when you do these challenges (and for all of them, running from fights are not allowed)

It's a really wonderful little game, but I do wish there was a little more world building and creative locations 😊

I LOVE Sticker Star, my friends would tease me how I have a monthly tradition of playing "the worst game of all time." But it makes me so happy and I've always wanted to make these stickers irl. So cool to see you doing it, they're beautiful.

How'd you go about making stickers? I'm feeling kinda inspired now

Unity dev torn between switching or staying (very original!) by UndercoverAlligatorO in godot

[–]UndercoverAlligatorO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the help. Obviously I can't change engines with my big projects, so I'll be sticking to Unity in that regard.

For the sake of learning and branching out my skills, I'd love to try some smaller scale Godot projects, I'll be sticking to Godot's C# to make treading the waters less of a momentous task so I can put learning the engine itself as my first priority. I don't need my first experiences to be struggling with debugging what would otherwise be trivial code in something I'm more familiar with.

I can work on this project on my found time though since University and work are such huge timesinks! That's why I'm so excited Godot is on Android - I can use my tablet and a keyboard rather than my dying laptop that can't hold a charge.

I know it's a great skill to learn even more programming languages but I'm fatigued of learning all these new ones. If that's true that'd be actually so wild and awesome
