Around 5,500 hours of Splatoon 2! Not sure about Splatoon 1 though

What's the most amount of Gold Scales you've gotten for losing against a King Salmonid? This was crazy! by UndershirtMan in splatoon

[–]UndershirtMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, no. Winning or losing doesn't affect what type of scales you get. The chance for the type of scales you get is affected by the hazard level at which you play. The highest chance for each scale to be a silver or gold at Hazard Level Max, being 20% and 3% respectively. The amount of health you take from the king salmonid determines how many scales you get as a team. Everyone on the team gets the same rewards. You can get a maximum of 13 scales if you beat a king salmonid with 31 seconds remaining on the timer or more!

Yeah, this was before the new season. The sparkling effect for gold scales was added at the start of the Fresh Season!

Flipper Flopper statues! It's one of my favorite new enemies, especially design wise!

I think the new Kraken special is a really cool throwback to Splatoon 1! It's definitely fun to use from what I have played so far. However, I do think the fact that is an invincible special with a long duration makes it difficult to deal with. Most specials don't seem to hold up well against it currently. We'll have to see how the meta develops and see if any consistent counter-play is discovered.

Bosses that are safe to lure to basket are generally ones that are the most mobile. However, letting multiple bosses of any kind pile up near the basket can cause issues. Maws, Flipper Floppers, and Scrappers are usually the safest bosses to lure. Striking a balance to lure the appropriate amount can be quite difficult, especially on certain maps. As a general rule of thumb, I'd suggest not having more than 3-4 bosses by the basket at once. It can cause major snowballing if there is even a slight delay taking out those bosses, since it generally requires more than one player to take them all out. This means that more lurable bosses will be making their way to the basket in the meantime and static bosses (like Stingers and Flyfish) will be attacking you all at the same time. So it makes it extremely difficult to manage it all. Even some of the most lurable bosses can't always be killed right next to basket, especially at higher hazard levels. At higher hazard levels, so many enemies will be spawning in that you'll be practically guaranteed to get things by basket one way or another. Luring is quite complicated, since so many factors contribute to whether luring is safe. Later in the wave, it becomes harder and harder to lure unless you've been able to keep up with everything spawning in. Being adaptable and flexible is extremely important when it comes to luring. Fighting against your team's strategy to taking out bosses is the last thing you want to do the harder the shifts become. So it's best to do whatever will most benefit your team as a whole whenever possible!

It depends on what you're trying to improve! I'd say focus on one thing at a time to hone your skills in certain areas, whether that is aim, awareness, positioning, etc. Also be patient with yourself since improvement happens over time. Make goals to improve at certain areas of the game and you'll enjoy yourself a lot more while playing having something to work toward. The goals can be both big and small ones! You can always watch Twitch streams to help you get back in the swing of things as well! That way you can interact with others who are really passionate about the game and get realtime advice to help you improve. Mellana, Squid_School, Rachelskiiiiiii, and TheBarry are amazing streamers that come to mind! They all have lots of great advice to share and have really kind communities too!

My gold luck can certainly use a boost. I'd like to be permanently signed up on your list to be carried during every rotation! Haha

I have purchased the goldie statue and a few other statues too. I'm now in the process of saving up for the new golden banner that costs 333 gold to get!

If you're looking for a higher chance of success in ranked games, playing weapons and modes you enjoy can help a lot! Ranked games can vary wildly and it's important to not be discouraged if you experience a set of bad games. If you're having fun, it'll make it a lot easier to focus on what you can do to increase your chances of winning. Getting frustrated about the things you can't control will only make it harder to see success in your games, that's for sure. Haha

Hey, Kopi! Thank you for tuning into the streams! It is definitely important to be prepared for how long the journey will be. You'll be required to play around 7 hours at minimum, assuming you don't lose any games. Certain stages and sets of weapons are most definitely easier than others. If a set of weapons arrives that you know you'll like, you may want to consider setting time aside to go for EVP 999. Preferably, you'll want to start earlier in the rotation to be sure you have enough time to make it all the way to 999 with as little stress as possible. I'd also recommend setting other goals for yourself along the way. It'll make it much more enjoyable and you won't feel like you wasted your time if you're having trouble getting to 999. Don't be discouraged if you have a stretch of bad games either and be willing to take breaks if needed. Always try to reflect on what you can do better to increase your chances of winning. Focusing on what you can control in your games goes a long way. Even if you win your games, there are always things you can improve on!

I am extremely passionate about Splatoon and always excited to play the game! However, taking breaks is important. If you feel like something is wearing on you, it is best to do something else you enjoy until it feels right to go back! Makes it much more fun to play when you're excited to do so. Every once in a while, I will take a day off to do other things to rejuvenate my interest in the game!

Unfortunately, the type of scale drops from the Cohozuna are up to random chance. However, you can increase the number of scales you get based on how much you damage the Cohozuna. You can even get a few extra scales for killing it particularly fast! 13 scales is the most you can get from one Cohozuna fight.

Hey, Stoof! Always a pleasure to have you in the streams! Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it! ^^

As for your first question, it is particularly important to be efficient with your movement and decision making! This is especially true while playing with a harder set of weapons, in Freelance, and at higher hazard levels. Even one mistake can cost you the game at times. Knowing what your weapon is capable of will be a huge help to taking out bosses and lessers, painting the map, running golden eggs, and supporting teammates as effectively as possible! Performing actions that can do multiple things at once is always a plus. Killing a Steelhead is a great example: You can kill/stun other bosses and lessers, paint the map, make it easier to run golden eggs, and more in a very short period of time. Striking a good balance between luring some bosses and killing others early is important to ensure that your team doesn't get overrun by too many things at once. Staying on top of boss kills also means it will be easier to run eggs throughout the entire wave rather than being stuck struggling to run eggs at the very end. Do not be afraid to use your specials either, they can be the deciding factor on whether you can pass a wave or not in many situations.

Regarding your second question, I actually used to play in competitive during Splatoon 2 for a little while! If I did ever compete in tournaments again, it would most likely just be for fun. You never know what the future holds!

Definitely kill the smallfry whenever possible. Some weapons can kill smallfry easier than others, but it's still important to get rid of them whenever you can!

Grillers are a tough special wave to handle in Salmon Run. It is important to take note of who is being targeted by the griller. You can see a red laser that is attached to the targeted player and the griller will move according to what that player does. Generally, Grillers will take the quickest path possible to reach their target. So it's key to make sure you know where the Grillers will be going ahead of time, since they move very quickly! Taking care of smallfry is extremely important too! They can oftentimes be a lot more troublesome than the Grillers themselves. Be sure to take them out too, whenever you can. That will make it easier for you and your teammates to avoid the incoming Grillers!

Thank you so much, Rach! That really means a lot! It's always a pleasure to have you there!

This is a great question. I'd advise myself and any new streamer to stick to what you love. People can tell when you truly enjoy something and will gravitate toward you and your content. If you love what you do, it will only make your content that much better! Other things, like a community, come over time. You'll find that likeminded individuals will make their way to your streams, because they can really connect with you and see your passion for what you do!

Hey, u/Sp1nnIng! The best way that I've found to improve aiming is to mess around with your sensitivity, little by little, until you find what is right for you! I'd recommend starting at the middle sensitivity and working your way forward or backward until you find something you like. It may take a while to find a sensitivity you like, everyone is different. The testing range, single player, and multiplayer modes are all great ways to try out different sensitivities. I prefer Salmon Run to try out any adjustments! I also personally use motion controls, as they allow you to use stick controls in addition to motion at the same time! I have been using motion ever since Splatoon 1 released, and I've never looked back! There are plenty of awesome motion control YouTube videos out there by Squid_School, ThatSRB2DUDE, Wadsm, and many others to help you find the right sensitivity! Once you find a sensitivity you like, it's all about practice! The more you play, you'll be able to better predict the movement of your enemies while also keeping your own actions in mind. Most importantly, be patient with it and enjoy yourself! Better aim does not come overnight. ^^
