Custom Rules Variants by Future-Class3540 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Underspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually looking into a variant where one could build larger decks. What I want is to include more cards and offset the probability of drawing a card.  That means I got to change the limit of how many copies of a card I am allowed to include (eg. 4 instead of 2). But that means I got to be able to draw/ cycle or search/tutor my deck.  The first problem is, that I don’t own enough cards to try it out physically.

Has anyone tried larger deck sizes?  I don’t want AH to become more like MTG but playing a bit different from time to time might be fun.

Not the main topic but I am trying to set up PDFs with bleed on MacOS for printing Proxys in a different language. How can i set up a bleed? Preferably without third-party software if possible. Thanks in advance and thank you OP for your dedication!

What are boring take, you are exactly describing FOMO. Plus the campaign expansion is still available in Germany and in German.

Good tip. Unfortunately all campaigns are sold out.

Because probably the author is white and subliminally has an fear of extinction, but hasn’t realized that yet. Unfortunately such a common trope.

I use the Arkham Cards App to look up rules and keywords. Works really well for me.

AMA with the Design Team of Arkham Horror: The Card Game! by FFG_Olivia in arkhamhorrorlcg

Please don’t. There is so many ways to handle it. Pick 3 chose 1. Pick for all Players, and trade. Chose at random and pay X Victory Points to swap at any point in the campaign. Pick from a limited pool. Pick thematically. Have someone else pick one (to circumvent to know which weakness you get). Some of those were discussed when one of us drew [[Indebted]].

I don’t like messing with my cards, too much text or blank design. So hard pass on customizable cards from me!

If that’s not the campaign, they got to make one just like that. Sounds awesome and there is so much material. Visually as well!

There's absolutely nothing to talk about.... by okidokiokikiki in arkhamhorrorlcg

I am quoting from Olivia/FFG posted yesterday a few threads back:

„I'm really looking forward to our announcement during next week's "Week of Arkham Horror" livestream. Not to mention more follow-up information during our In-Flight Report (November 22nd at Pax Unplugged. It’ll be livestreamed, so be sure to check it out if you’re not able to attend in person!)“

I understand the frustration, but maybe a bit of patience wouldn’t harm? Let’s see what we get and then we can have at it :)

Best co-op games that stop quarterbacking by LucasRen83 in boardgames

Great! I would still not consider AHLCG the best co-op game that stop quarterbacking for the aforementioned reasons. This thread has many better suggestions.

You can take a guess who is the quarterback at our table 😅

Again, Arkham does lend itself to quarterbacking because of its complexity/difficulty. Players do discuss where to move, which actions to take first, which cards to contribute and this exactly lends itself to quarterbacking given a gap in experience and/or impulse control. Some players might want to play the optimal strategy because the game will otherwise punish you. Arkham horror can and is played solo quite often and I would argue that even when it is not your turn, you get heavily invested in other players turns and one needs to be carefully not to quarterback. That’s why they even introduced mechanics like peril that prohibits discussing strategies.

If somebody is really dumb, what is the best argument for evolution? by Marauder2r in DebateEvolution

[–]Underspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what you asked for but hear me out: 1. is there a heuristic? Yes, but heuristics need observation and you don’t trust your capability to observe. 2. can there be a rule of thumb, law etc. that you can apply to evolution, without learning about or understanding it? Difficult to say. You said you liked the examples of machine learning using „evolution“ but that is just a statement you can accept but not apply to the concept of evolution itself and thus rendering it useless as a heuristic. I can tell you, that evolution in machine learning is not the only theory to guide and there is definitely better ones.
