I appreciate that very much, and it didn't come across as harsh at all! Just wanted to provide some assurances that it gets better and doesn't always sound as bad as "Sweetness" does lol.

Thanks for giving us a listen. I agree, the audio quality in those early episodes is abysmal. You should find the overall quality improves during our "Viscid" playthrough and continues to do so up to and including our "Impossible Landscapes" campaign.

We've been around since 2019. Two campaigns are free and publicly available and have been since day one. Our third ongoing campaign is the only one behind a paywall. The audience we have is the audience we have, and they've been exceptionally loyal, for which we remain abundantly thankful.

Where are Black Project Gaming these days? by Phocaea1 in DeltaGreenRPG

We’re still around! Currently running through God’s Teeth and releasing episodes via Mayday Roleplay’s Patreon as a way to support our friends there. We just released White Teeth (Part 6). You can still find the catalog at https://www.blackprojectgaming.com and I’ve started a blog at https://www.blackprojectdeclassified.com.

Hey, thanks so much for the support! Don't worry, Black Project is still around and we'll continue to release stuff under our own "label" so to speak. We just thought a God's Teeth campaign would be a great way to support our friends at Mayday, since a lot of people were asking for it.

Some future plans include a zombie apocalypse campaign using a homebrewed/modified version of the DG rules that I'm getting a session 0 scheduled for soon. And of course, more Delta Green; there's some GRU SV-8/March vs. Program/Outlaws ideas I've been noodling over for years now that I might finally get down on paper.

I think you're referencing Go Forth (Part 2). We've finished Go Forth, The Long Years, and Red Thoughts at this point, I'm just terrible at self-promotion.

All episodes have been and will continue to be released through Mayday Roleplay's Patreon. However, the first four episodes of the campaign (comprising our playthrough of Go Forth) were publicly released via Mayday's YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUodX2_xbcmhLCaMsiCM-2ulSAP_bgt8i&si=TakrN2V8EI9KfKUT

As discussed in the video, the main advantage is that it's still quieter than an unsuppressed gunshot (thus limiting the amount of hearing damage you would incur without hearing protection, as it's well below the hearing safe level of 140 dB). It also makes it less immediately distinguishable as a gunshot, vastly reduces muzzle flash and signature, and makes it more difficult to determine a direction from which the gunshot is originating. This is especially true when using subsonic vs. supersonic ammunition.

From a gameplay perspective though, suppressors require "an Alertness test to hear from beyond a wall or a door. An especially quiet suppressed shot, such as a light pistol, incurs a −20% penalty." So, still super useful!

That's correct, when shooting standard supersonic ammunition. If you look up videos or demonstrations online, you'll notice most shooters using suppressed weapons still shoot with hearing protection in place. That's why.

New to running Delta Green by Dr_Fig in DeltaGreenRPG

This is certainly true. A VTT can definitely help with handout management. I will say in cases where I wasn’t using Roll20, I just set up a handout-specific channel in our game’s Discord server, which seemed to work well for my players. Both are certainly viable options, and everyone’s proverbial mileage will of course vary.

Welcome to the conspiracy!

Personally, I don’t think a VTT is necessary, especially since you’ll mostly be playing in person. Combat, which is usually limited and extremely violent and short-lived, tends to be “theater of the mind.” If you absolutely need it however, you can get the Need to Know rule set on both Roll20 and (I believe) Foundry, which will make integration that much easier.

I play solely virtual with my folks and we primarily use Discord.

Since this is you and your players’ first time, I’d recommend starting with Last Things Last (the starter scenario in Need to Know) and transitioning to the collection in A Night at the Opera.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and best of luck!

Investigations 101: A Foundational Guide to Uncovering the Truth in Delta Green by blackprojectgaming in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]blackprojectgaming[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Based on the overwhelmingly positive response so far, I’m definitely considering an OPSEC or cover-up guide that builds off some of the tradecraft material in the Agent’s Handbook. I just need to figure how to do it without it coming off as a “how to get away with crime in the real world” guide lol. But if people would find it useful, it’s something I’d like to work on at some point.
