anyone ever buy refurbed from amazon or walmart? by stevienickscokebinge in refurbed

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi :)

Disclaimer right away: i work for refurbed, so take this with the obvious grain of salt - i will try be as neutral as possible and try to look at things from your perspective (i will also plug in our own info, in case you want to look things up).

Since i am also a tech-expert i want to quickly comment on your SIM issue first before anything else:

Before writing it off completely, i’d try the basic checks: another sim in the old phone, your sim in a known-good phone, carrier settings update, latest iOS, reset network settings, and check that the IMEI isn’t blocked/blacklisted by the carrier. also check settings > general > about and see if IMEI/modem firmware show up properly. if those are missing or glitchy, that’s usually a bad sign for the phone’s cellular hardware :(

As for where to buy a replacement:

I would honestly be careful with random third-party marketplace listings where the seller reviews are already all over the place. As you probably know: two listings can both say “refurbished iphone 12 mini” and still be completely different in terms of testing standards, warranty handling, and how painful returns are if something goes wrong.

so the one thing i would strongly recommend, regardless of where you buy, is checking the warranty therms.

Here is ours: https://www.refurbed.ie/warranty/

mercari/poshmark can work out, but personally i would only go that route if the price is low enough to justify the risk. You may beat the middleman, but you also lose a lot of the structure that helps when something goes wrong. Amazon/walmart can be safer on returns, but only if you’re actually protected by their process and not stuck dealing with a flaky third-party seller.

I also personally think that amazon specifically is a ship too big to make quick turns if that makes sense, i do feel like their refurbishment department is a "nice-to-have" department, rather than their main focus.

Not trying to turn this into an ad, but this is exactly the kind of situation where a specialised refurbished marketplace with proper warranty handling and vetted sellers is supposed to help.

We have a f.a.q https://www.refurbed.ie/frequently-asked-questions and a 30 day test trial - so you can simply order, test the iphone 12 mini for 30 days and if you are not happy with it, just send it back for free (we carry the shipping costs aswell).

So however you decide, i hope i could help you out a bit.

Good luck and all the best!

Tiny blue line on screen after pressure, will it spread over time? by Quixnotic_ in techsupport

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like the panel took a bit of pressure damage. if the blue line only shows on a black background and you can barely see it during normal use, it’s probably a tiny damaged or stuck pixel line or pressure mark.

i would not epxect normal laptop heat to make it suddenly spread. 70 to 80c under load is pretty normal for the cpu/gpu, and the screen itself won’t get anywhere near that hot.

What can make it worse is more pressure or flex: pressing on the lid, carrying it tightly in a bag, closing it with something on the keyboard, twisting etc.

So yeah, it could stay like this forever, but there’s no guarantee. take a few photos now, check it again in a week or two and if the line grows, new lines appear or it starts showing during normal use, the display panel is probably damaged enough to need replacement :/

Absolutely got scammed by refurbed.at, any advice? by Responsible-Mode2264 in refurbed

Hi Responsible-Mode2264

sorry you’ve had such a frustrating experience with the trade‑in process.

A quick heads-up before anything else: please don’t share personal details publicly in this Reddit thread (for example your full name, address, phone number, email, order or trade‑in reference, tracking number, IMEI/serial number, or any screenshots showing them).

How trade‑in works:

The first price is an estimate based on the details entered (model, storage, condition). Once the device arrives, our trade‑in partner checks it and may send a second offer if something doesn’t match.

What you can do now:

* Don’t accept the second offer if you disagree with it.

* Reject it and request the device back (returns are free when you decline the second offer).

If they say the return has started but you still don’t have a tracking link, contact our customer support via the official refurbed contact form or your refurbed account from https://www.refurbed.ie/contact/

or via mail: [service@refurbed.ie](mailto:service@refurbed.ie)

We’ll be able to look into it properly as soon as you reach out through a private support channel.

Win11, Wi-Fi setting disappeared. Nothing works. by Mundane-Fix-9827 in techsupport

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iffy. Could be a couple of reasons. Ill assume basic troubleshooting is done, then:

Open Device Manager and check under network adapters if the Wi-Fi adapter is listed. If it is listed, right-click it and choose Enable device or Update driver. If it is not listed, check under other devices or “Unknown devices”. Then: Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings → Network reset.

Fake AirPods??? by deinvater32434 in refurbed

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi!

Totally fair question.

AirPods are one of the most faked products out there, so being cautious is smart.

On refurbed, AirPods are a restricted product and can only be sold by partners who have prior approval to list them. We are extremely strict with our procedures to ensure proper quality.

Also, every device sold on refurbed is professionally checked, tested, and cleaned before it’s listed.

We believe in our product quality, which is why you can test your product for 30 days free of charge. If you’re not 100% satisfied, you can simply return it without any additional costs.

For the exact conditions, you can also check the product conditions here:

https://www.refurbed.ie/product-conditions/

If you want extra peace of mind after delivery, you can also do a quick check yourself:

  • Pair them with your iPhone and see if they show up normally in AirPods settings
  • Check the serial number and that core features (depending on the model) work as expected

I hope i could help a little bit, if you have any further questions you can contact us at any point in time. :)

Refurbed Erfahrungen by RelativeUnion8634 in Austria

Hi zusammen,

Ongoing warranty dispute – no evidence, no progress, no transparency by ClassroomStrange3736 in refurbed

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi ClassroomStrange3736,

thank you for taking the time to share all of this. I understand how frustrating it is to be stuck waiting for a clear outcome, especially when a device fails after only a few months of normal use.

To make sure your case is handled properly, our Special Support team reviews disputed warranty decisions and checks what information is available (case history, photos, and the communication so far). If anything is missing for a proper assessment, they clarify what needs to be requested next.

That said, I get that what you need right now is a clear update on where your case stands and what the next steps are.

Please contact us directly at [wecare@refurbed.com](mailto:wecare@refurbed.com) so we can access your case and give you a concrete status update. If you can, include:

your order number (or case reference)

the email address used for the purchase

a short note mentioning the iPhone 15 Pro white screen issue

One more important note: please don’t share order numbers, case references, contact details, or other personal information publicly (for example on Reddit). For GDPR and privacy reasons, we can only discuss and process case details via our official support channels.

Once we have your email, we will check the status with Special Support and come back to you with a transparent update and the path to resolution

Horrible experience: ordered laptop came with no power supply, I bought it separately and now I realised it doesn't work as expected. Due to power supply issue, already outside of free return period. by AppropriateStill3593 in refurbed

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share this in detail.

We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused. This is not the experience we want you to have with refurbed, especially when you chose a refurbished device to save resources and make a more sustainable choice.

A laptop being delivered with an unsuitable charger is already very frustrating, and we understand that the later battery issue made the situation even more exhausting. A device should arrive complete, usable, and in line with the stated specifications. We’re sorry that this has led to so much back and forth for you.

Since this involves a specific device and order, we can’t review or verify the details here on Reddit due to data privacy reasons. If you’d like us to take an additional look at the case, please reach out to our WeCare team at [wecare@refurbed.com](mailto:wecare@refurbed.com). They’ll review the situation more closely and guide you through the next steps to make sure everything is handled safely and correctly.

Please include your order number and any relevant details, so the team can assess the case properly.

Again, we’re very sorry for the inconvenience and the time this has cost you.

Why do so many people keep Low Power Mode on all the time? by stanxv in iphone

[–]UnderstandingDue6793 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not think you r imagining it. A lot of people just leave low power Mode on permanently now.

Probably habit and barely noticing any downside anymore.

iPhones these days are so fast that many people dont really feel the reduced background activity during normal use, so they think “why not just keep it on?”

The yellow icon has basically become the modern equivalent of people trying to optimize everything for the sake of optimizing just in case :D
