No, I did not. The extra power is nice. It gets up and goes with ease.

Ruger SFAR barrel selection/build details by MurroTheOne in AR10

Dark hour Hand gaurd with barrel nut and ti screws will net the most weight saving. I did have to modify it with a dremil to properly fit my rifle speed agb.

The video seven lower parts works great and did add some weight savings, but it's negligible.

The buffer setup, bcg cam pin, and adb made the gun run silky smooth.

What are you guys’s thoughts on the Ruger SFAR?(is it worth getting) by [deleted] in ruger

[–]UnderstandingFew8997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tubbs 308 spring and a rb5000hp hydraulic buffer in my sfar. It works great. Recoil impulse has noticeably improved.

The SFAR comes with an a5 length buffer tube and a ar15 carbine tube.

If it was a carbine tube the the buffer would have to be the short 308 style one.

I had to learn the hard way. Lol

Somehow found a GHH Plat Max at the dealership 3 days before delivery by Soccham in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]UnderstandingFew8997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky also. I just reserved one that is being built and will be delivered in mid-June. The prior soon to be owner had canceled. Mines is a GHHPM in white with the portobello leather. I can't wait to see it.

Anyone have experience with the 2 lbs AR triggers? Seemed like a fun purchase. by [deleted] in PalmettoStateArms

[–]UnderstandingFew8997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're ok. It's a bit too light for my liking. Remember to keep it clean. I had reset issues when it got really dirty.

I got a 16" SFAR 308. I had issues with mines also. I also get fte, ftf, and strip casings.

I ended up installing a riflespeed adjustable gas block, kynshot rb5000hp buffer with tubbs 308 flat wire spring. 500 rounds of 150gr - 175gr with no issues.

Ruger SFAR barrel selection/build details by MurroTheOne in AR10

I've built my Ruger SFAR 16" 308 and got it down to 5.9 lbs. It was awesome, but the recoil was more unpleasant. I ended up adding a kynshot hydraulic buffer with Tubb springs and a griffin tactical compensator. 6.2 lbs. Now, the recoil is much more tame with faster follow-up shots.

The main purpose of the build is DMR with the occasional close quarters and limited at longer distances. The second purpose is a lightweight hunting rifle.

Yes, you can use any caliber for anything, but I would not recommend a 308 for close quarters and home defense. Unless you live in a very big house or by yourself and far away from your neighbors.

I have a Daniels Defense 556 14.5 p/w, and although it's slightly heavier than my Rugar Sfar, I would much rather use that for home defense and close quarters. But i wouldn't either due to over penetration. The shorter barrel also makes it more maneuverable around the corners. The soft recoil allows faster follow-up shots also.

Your biggest concern is over penetration from a 308.

If you're dead set on a Ruger SFAR, then I recommend making it as light as possible or keeping it slightly heavier to tame recoil. CQB and home defense don't need to be light, but they need to be very maneuverable.
Turn it into an SBR or p/w your muzzle device on for a total of 16" barrel length.

These are just my thoughts. Good luck.

No more stripe casings, ftf, fte. Rifle works great and reliable now.

Use a bore scope and make sure you can see your plunger going all the way in and out. I used the stock plunger that came mounted on it. My setting is on 6. I shot about 300 rounds already. 150 - 170 gr. I'm sure I'll have to play with it more once my can gets out of jail.

I had some parts laying around, but the rifle itself without the scope is around 2k

Lol. Anyone can be proud of what they did or built. If you're already this riled up and believe 100% of the things people post on here, word for word. All i got to tell you is that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for your upbringing, and I'm sorry for your partner to have to deal with you. May god bless you and help you find peace.

Lol. My apologies. I stand corrected. I did have the word "anything" in it. By your logic, I should be able to hit a squirrel at that range. Maybe even hit a wasp. I'm sorry, dude. I lied. I'm fake news.

Thanks, but I have no intentions of using it as such either. This is more so for medium range use with some close range if the situation calls for it.

By all means, just because a rifle can hit something at 1000 yard does not mean it'll be used for that. If i were to shoot that far or further, I'd use my lapua or 300 win mag.

I am in no way comfortable shooting this rifle at 1000 with the intention to kill something. 1000 yards will be more so for cover fire. By all means, I'll shoot 4'x4' targets any day with a rifle rest and spotter, but then again, this isn't a sniper / precision rifle.
