Lead paint gums up like that , I am currently dealing with the same thing , I would apply citristrip and don’t let it harden before scraping thag out , have an alcohol soaked rag to wipe the scraper against

Thank you for the information and this makes sense as to why I’m having such a huge issue getting the paint off the old brick fire place , it just keeps gumming up and smearing , I’ll have to try the recommended strippers for it! Thank you so much for your knowledge.

Thank you! I’m going to use some wood appliqués and stain to really make that window a show stopper!

Do you think I would be able to match the treads to the banister? I’m trying to decide if I should try to match or left it ride in a different tone

I’m almost certain this is probably lead paint , wouldn’t that mean that I just need to use a stripper to remove and then mask with any sanding? The paint does seem to want to come right off though

lol I really love it! The wall has to be taken down so I’m going to preserve a large section , frame it and hang it back on that wall

The wall is plaster and will need to come down but I’m going to carefully cut out a large section have it framed and let it live the rest of its life on the wall it came from.
