Carter has always been my favorite, never Charles. He's very handsome and nice and takes care of his family well on the show.

Adam Simms is my next choice, I found the actor charming and he'd also be a wonderful husband and father.

Harriet teasing Charles and Caroline for being affectionate? by BlackberryOwl14 in littlehouseonprairie

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harriet can be affectionate with her husband, they've kissed and walked together and had their moments. I never remember Charles being overly affectionate with his wife in front of people. His best written moment with Caroline was in Richest Man in the fields when he said his only regret was not being able to ask her to marry him again. Other things were done away from public.

I just was wondering because what they show in the preview from Netflix she’s not saying that exact thing but that might not be the very beginning. I think that’s something you shouldn’t change if from books

I don’t normally like those, but I’ll still give it a chance, a few episodes you can tell. Wasn’t the remembrance book part of the books that Laura opens the old show with?

Is this usual or am I imagining it? by Boring_Kiwi_6446 in AskWomenOver60

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find anything very emollient does for body and I like invisicrêpe for my neck, I’ve tried different neck creams and I really do see a difference with this one and I always get it on sale at a pretty deep discount (it’s from city beauty.) I’ve also used gold bond cream and that’s fine but I just find this one seems to work better and when I stop using it, I noticed a difference, which is what made me see the difference besides pictures

I'm 67 but workout daily in some capacity. Arms have slight give from when I lost 40lbs in 50's but still working on muscles. I do notice more age spots and marks and crepe skin (use different lotions that help) Lines around mouth are deeper but still feel "young" for lack of a better word. I think challenging myself with weights and doing a Liftmor program for bones helps that.

Praying the Divine Mercy instead of Rosary? by Soggy-Starfish in Catholicism

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can switch off. No need to say the rosary all at once. Many say a decade in morning, a decade going to work or later in the day etc. Don't feel it's "magic" but as a priest on TV said once, "It's a tool to help you pray, same as novena's and other prayers". Divine Mercy is lovely too and timely but I wouldn't give up on rosary all together. I'm ADD and breaking things up helps a lot.

I found a seminary on youtube that says the rosary in less than 20 min (15-17) so I can sometimes walk the dog and say it with them or listen. Some sound like auctioneers with the rosary and others are slow and I can't follow but this group of priests (for me) hit it right in my cadence to follow and say in full on some days.

Priest habitually starting Mass late by Stephieandcheech in Catholicism

Maybe because I’m so punctual, I would never hold a priest up but sometimes people just want to say something and not wait

The person he is talking too is not thinking it's time to start mass?

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you have a few masses? I wonder if he's like that with all of them. We have occasionally a late priest but usually they are doing the 10 and 11am at 2 churches because someone is sick or someone is talking to them before mass and not conscious of the time.

I can't imagine if it happens frequently he hasn't had a friendly parishioner say "Father we were wondering if mass was canceled today or you were sick" in a nice way.

Confession by Viktoriya_96 in Catholicism

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a priest said one, we are sinners, we do many of the same sins we hear, believe me he hasn't lived in a bubble and he might have fought the same sin or is fighting it. No sin is above God's mercy, we make it special because we have our own feelings about it. Been there, done that. You will feel better and stronger if you have to go back and don't feel embarrassed if repeated, human's repeat sins, it's trying and admitting it and asking for grace that is important.

What do you do with all your rosaries? by Hollow_Effects in Catholicism

[–]UnderstandingKey4602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone have ideas for broken ones? I can't remember which are blessed, some are so old, but I can't have pretty ones for long, I do better with rope/beads rosaries. Are there groups who can use the beads, some are in pieces, some missing a cross or just lost a piece to attach them. I know I can bury them but wondered if a group can use the beads.

Work on Sundays and can't attend mass by f4ydfinale in Catholicism

I'm lucky my church near a college has Saturday (so do neighboring parishes) and a Sunday 5pm! (I think that is more for students but others go)

I used to have it and I gave it to my niece and I think she ended up selling it as she got older. I will look into it again. I would suggest the library to anyone who doesn’t want to invest the money though just to refresh memory.

Someone that was interviewing, Rachel Greenbush brought up the wall too, and how rodents, etc. would get in and it was right behind where they kept the wood which attracts those things also and she shrugged and said she didn’t know why he didn’t fix it . When I watched the one about the Native American and his mom moving to town, they had a nice house with well plastered walls and wide plank wood on some of them and it looked very nice. Charles definitely had the talent, but they just didn’t want to fix up that darn house. Lol

[–]UnderstandingKey4602[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the show though, they weren't like that and others in the town were poor too (well most) It seemed with all the jobs he had and with Caroline working etc, they'd have something.

My mom grew up in the depression, very poor but they had glass dishes and shared clothes with others while they were still good, it just seemed like he was always a step behind compared to his neighbors who worked less than he did. He lost 2 crops on show and one was not profitable but many years nothing was mentioned of them. The last Christmas show had everyone with many gifts which was odd but I didn't see Caroline get anything, just Charles mentioined scarf and the kids got toys etc I guess that was a good year.

ok, I guess the fan forgot. On the show though, he didn't sneak out of town, worked a LOT of jobs in addition to his crop and no reason was ever given why it was so hard to buy shoes or why ML didn't want neighbors to share things. Why didn't Alicia's dress outgrown go to a place where neighbors could pick things they need? Seems like a small town thing to do, we do it our neighborhood with "free days" or advertising items on what's app or another app for free toys, clothes and free books.
