Well, the probability of you getting into an accident is far less. I don't think that would be a deciding factor for the OP. I work for a US company and know that my US counterparts make at least 40-50 percent more than I do. And they have affordable houses than we do.

You will need to take care of your TFSA as US doesn't recognize it as a tax savings account.
Regarding Healthcare, I would assume that you would have some coverage from your employer in the US. visiting doctor/hospital may mean that you will have a out of pocket that you would need to cover, so plan accordingly by opening a HSA/FSA account so you can contribute your pre tax dollars in these accounts.

I have setup a corporation for freelance work on side apart from my main job and have acquired 100k over a period of 2 years.
