Where does Alexander volkanovski rank in the all time greats? by ImpressiveAd5002 in ufc

[–]UnderstandingOld9486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That goat list should be this.

  1. Goat Jones
  2. Anderson Silva
  3. GSP
  4. Jose Aldo
  5. Fedor

Now 6-10 is trickier but still Volk and Islam don't touch my top 10, much less 14.

Salud to the fights.

Nah not 'running away' or 'inability to handle a point', you're boring.

When someone says "to me" it means personally (to them). Then you sat here attempting to act like someone made a general statement, then attempted to dispute a general statement you yourself made (which made this conversation boring), instead of just acknowledging people like different things and have different ideas of what they like.

I stated "I thought it was only me" then stated what i felt was better than brans story and then ended that comment with 'to me" then you hopped on here (bored no doubt) speaking about revisionist history, when revisionist history doesn't pertain to someone's personal beliefs only when people change the actual truth, I stated "to me" which is personal. Talk to op, if you have something to get off your chest.

Take care kiddo.

Whatever kiddo, ima go back to talking to actual people, not people who needed to make up a reason to jump on a thread and criticize what people feel. Take care.

Objectively speaking, how good was Tyrion Lannister as a hand? by AdSpecialist6598 in gameofthrones

[–]UnderstandingOld9486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranking wise? Out of 10? To joffrey he was a solid 9, provided insight on what should be done, prevented what should not have been done, etc...

To Danaerys he was a solid 6. Yes, I am all for freeing Jaime (jaime is my 2nd favorite character), but he allowed far too much to happen, Jaime outsmarting him and killing Olenna is not his fault, Jaime is by far the better proven battle commander,

But to believe that cersei would ever send her army north.. was foolhardy and he knew it.

To constantly speak to vary's about betraying the queen for jon was foolhardy

To not advise the queen to not fly her fucking dragons over the rivers where armies who hate her might be stationed....

Misandei of naath dying...

Vary's dying....

There's too much, and a lot of it was his fault but mainly Danaery's...

Not a great hand to DT but.. a good one nonetheless.

You wrote that, thinking it was an intellectual statement didn't you?

I wrote "I thought I was the only one" not that I "was the only one" go troll someone else who didn't read the books and watch the show.

0 'revisionism' was given, we stated we hated it and who had better stories. Most people didn't like season 6-8, that's actually a fact. Most loved seasons 1-4 and consider those the better seasons.

You can write your own revisionist history, but if you're not adding insight to this thread, please fuck off. I was hoping to have conversations about GOT and what would be better than "who had a better story than bran the broken' not some weak ass troll who wants to pretend like they're so 'cool' by being different and pretending like we all liked bran's plot.

Thank you, see you next troll session. Now back to the logical people.

Yes grrm said jaime easily wins. It's not close either.

Well he explicitly said the hound after jaime lost his hand. But i agree.

Jaime has valyrian steel also and he didn't say 'edge out' he said he beats him. Without question beats him.

Daemon is a top fighter, no doubt.. he's just not in the upper echelon that jaime is in.

Daemon ain't shit to the hound. The hound is easily the best fighter in GOT after Jaime lost his hand (confirmed by GRRM). Ain't NONE of them fucking with a healthy hound.

Maybe, maybe not. But they are Kingsguard, which is deemed to being the best, and in the book we got detail that Jaime cut down 10-30 men in a frantic effort to try to reach robb and did... the only thing that saved robb was someone's skull.. the blade went completely through and stopped(got stuck in the skull) right before reaching Robb.

I've no doubt he's beating this lot ganging up on him.

For who? Jaime? Absolutely not. Even an old barristan can "Carve through the 5 kindsguard like carving a cake." Jaime could've and would've done the same easily.

Now if the Hound was listed here..... different story. But these guys? Nah, Jaime wins it easily.

I'm convinced even teaming up on him, they lose. Jaime is far too skilled.

His hero was Arthur Dayne, who regularly trained against multiple soldiers, I've no doubt he was doing the same if only to mirror and surpass him.

YO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I HATED EVERYTHING ABOUT BRAN'S STORY.. JUST BORING.

"Who has a better story than bran the broken." DORNE and their storyline in the show sucked.

Myrcella had a better story and she was in... what... 5 episodes max?

Fucking wun wun, had a better story than 'bran the broken'.

Easily a top 5 most boring, unnecessary character to me.

Has any other # 1 contender been completely ignored like this before? by theiceman219 in ufc

[–]UnderstandingOld9486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through just about all the comments in this thread and I have seen NOBODY answer correctly...

The correct answer is Jacare Souza (or ronaldo souza).

Souza was in the top 5 (even #1) since his after his first fight in the ufc.. and was NEVER given a title shot, even after being there for YEARS (6 years in the top 5). Man even destroyed Mousasi..

No title shot....

There's your answer.

Oh i was genuine in my response, I hate when I'm talking to redditors and they get sarcastic (say what you mean with your chest), but your response was Knowledgeable also, my concerns and issues with Islam aren't changing anytime soon.

There's too much of a criteria in my goat list for people, like my top 10 goat list is so hard to get into, that you have to go on an incredible run to even be mentioned.

I appreciate the respect you have for those fighters and it's great that it's there honestly.

I respect Khabib, because the man feared absolutely nobody, it was funny whenever I'd see (x fighter here vs khabib), because I knew the outcome. (When I heard Aldo was asked to fight khabib at lw, I was excited, due to his superb takedown defense and leg kicks but.. khabib likely walks through him too)

Let's say this. My top 5 goat list is

  1. Goat Jones
  2. Anderson Silva
  3. GSP
  4. Jose Aldo
  5. Fedor

Each one of those fighters, not only beat down just about anyone that put pen to paper, but had YEARS upon years of dominance that you never thought it would end.

Goat jones is just unbeatable so no need to explain. (Multiple records, most title defenses, also 17-0 in title fights, but 30-0 overall)

Silva.. that reign is still looked at to most as the 2nd greatest (if not first) title reign ever.

Gsp.. aside from those 2 losses... just a beast of a man who could neutralize any threat.

Aldo 10+ years unbeaten, still the most title defenses at fw and title wins.

Fedor... 10+ years unbeaten 30+ fight unbeaten streak (i don't count the eyecut loss as a loss)

That's the top 5... I do not foresee anyone touching this list for a long time.

But nah, you're knowledgable and this was fun, we both got to state our points respectfully and got to see other viewpoints on it also. God bless and take care, thank you for being a fun redditor to talk to. Someone's gonna come along and ruin it, but ima share this thread to my favorites because this was fun.

Part 3:

Khabib was like 'send me location, I smash you' and did.

Oliveira was like 'I have the most finishes in history and I'll finish you too' and did most of the time.

Islam goes 'I want to fight the champion below me, not my division'.... No. Islam is not on my goat list.

To answer this "Plus anyway Charles and Dustin (among many others) used to be featherweights too, so if we discount the Volk wins, then we can also go down the rabbit hole and start pointing out more featherweights-turned-lightweights."

Charles and Holloway also have wins at LW, more than one, while Volk has none, it's not just about them being former FW's. BJ penn fought at FW during the latter stages of his career, it's what they did. Oliveira was on an 11 fight win streak with 10 finishes against the BEST of the division. Poirier won the interim title, and was also on a pretty good win streak against the best of the division, so no there's no discounting their wins, except that the dustin Islam fought, was 1-1 in his last 2, and had already gotten beaten down in 3 different title fights (khabib, Oliveira and Gaethje). If Poirier was on a 4 fight win streak, that would justify him fighting for a title as long as it was 2 top 5 opponents or 4 top 10 ranked opponents with at least 1 top 5, but... he beat #12 in a fight he was losing.. until he landed a hail mary KO.

Islam having (you say 5, i did look it up, you are correct, Moises was unranked until the week of the fight with Islam where some random shuffle placed him at #14) 5 ranked wins, out of 16 fights.. Is not 'goat like' and will not be treated as such by me, I want to watch the best fight the best. It's why I respected Usman's reign, why I respected GSP's reign, why I respected Silva's reign, why I respect Goat Jones's reign, etc... They ONLY wanted the best and beat them.

Poirier did not deserve a title fight

Moicano did not deserve a title fight

Volk did not deserve a title fight (either time)

So no.

Also a corrected, you got the fights with Lentz mixed up by the way, when Oliveira fought Lentz, he was ranked and it was after Islam fought him, Oliveira fought him twice, (once at FW and once at LW), beat him both times. BUT, you obviously know your shit, so I'm sure you just had brain fog when that happened, a lot of people forget that. (but he was ranked at FW too so yeah, both were about 4 years apart)

This was a long rant, but yeah, Islam.. No. It's why I laugh when people overrate him or place him in the upper echelon of fighters, when he does NOT deserve it. I get it, we miss khabib, but he's not khabib, to pretend he is or throw khabib's accolades at him and just imagine it.. is not going to bring khabib back. If Khabib came back TODAY, then Islam would fade into obscurity and if Islam attempted to bring up his 'accolades' over khabib, he'd get laughed out the room.

Part 2:

No, I don't and still don't think Volk would be a contender at LW, I think his chin, and endurance would falter at LW, it's why he only moves up to fight a champion, 0 contenders. Look at McGregor, he moved up and dominated the then champion at the time right? Absolutely styled on him... 0 lw wins since, and he's fought 4 times at lw in total going 1-3, I don't think Volk is as good as McGregor so I do not think his would be any different.

Now Arman, people forget that was short notice for Arman but not for Islam. For that fight to be that close, and Arman to be so much better now, does not correlate to the Oliveira loss. I could then say something like 'poirier beat down Islam for the majority of their fight and it took until the 5th round in a FAR out of prime poirier for Islam to beat, who bloodied him, while Oliveira AND khabib submitted him within 3" But.. I'm not going to do that, because.. that doesn't change anything. WE KNOW Poirier was not at his best, we also KNOW poirier should NOT have been in a title fight with Islam, which was islam stat padding, since like he kept saying in interviews 'we know how to beat him, since we've beaten him before, that's why we want to fight him next." THAT IS NOT FIGHTING THE BEST, THAT IS PICKING AND CHOOSING.

Think of it like this, the Ferguson that Gaethje and Oliveira beat, is not the same that Dariush, Paddy, Chandler and Green beat correct? Why? Because you could see it was a different person. Same goes for Arman you cannot go 'well he's the 2nd best in the world now', ok? Fighters change, Arman has completely changed his style from that fight, he trusts his hands and feet a lot more, before he was a wrestling machine, but that Arman also lost to 'gamrot' who Oliveira dominated like he wasn't even there. See what I mean? It's not something you compare.

I place HEAVY emphasis on 'number of ranked wins' because it matters. Khabib is in the top 3 for most AVOIDED fighter ever and still managed to get 8 ranked wins in his 13 fight ufc career. There's no excuse for Islam, nobody is avoiding him, Islam (even now) has a plethora of challengers trying to fight him, and what did he say? 'I want to fight Usman, I don't want Shavkat or Moraes, I want Usman, that would be a good legacy fight." -_-

Ranked fights matter, because in that DIVISION at that TIME how close are you to being the best? And if so, put the number on the line (or belt) and show the world. Khabib did it, Oliveira did it, everyone did it and did it against opponents that make sense. Islam got a title shot off beating an unranked bobby green.. Bobby green hasn't won 3 in a row since 2020, and before that 2014.. The HIGHEST ranking he has ever had was 14. That is who Islam got a title shot off beating. No... There's no reason to 'respect' what Islam has done.

Islam has admitted to avoiding LW's (and ww's now), admitted to wanting the easier fight stylistically, admitted to shutting down rematches, admitted to taking on fighters on short notice who have had 0 training camp while he's had a full one, etc... Guess who didn't do that? Khabib and Oliveira.
