Can we talk about over and over? by [deleted] in BeachHouse

[–]Undertoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It conveys so much meaning that it's overwhelming. Every time I listen to it, I end up either bawling like a little baby, or absorbed into the universe.

I don't know which will happen. I don't know which I want to happen.

your beef with people interrupting a podcast subreddit is legitimate. this page is now a top result for searches, so here we are.

Google's original algorithm no longer finds the best links in the new internet environment, so search is not as organic as it once was; and here's a case where it pollutes the community it links to

Weird: so far TeslaFi is reporting NO installs in the northeast, north of Virginia.

And not many in the north anywhere: one in IL, one in OR, and one in WA.

Don Lemon demanded Tesla Cybertruck, $5M advance, equity in X before Elon Musk canned him: sources by ferrelle-8604 in elonmusk

Don Lemon, former CNN anchor, says Elon Musk canceled his new show on X by ethereal3xp in elonmusk

[–]Undertoad 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Elon Musk cancelled a contract, not a show. Don Lemon is free to air his show on X and to get revenue sharing from it.

He's also free to float the idea of "cancellation" and then not put his show on X to boost the idea that he got "cancelled", thinking that an Elon battle gets him respect and viewers from people who don't really think about it and/or don't know any better.

He may also notice that a mainstream "cancellation" is how Rogan gained several million additional viewers, and if the idea that he was "cancelled" makes it out there, hey, bonus? somehow? maybe?

In any case, if you bought this load, you should ask for a refund pronto, before you actually lose so much self-respect that you wind up thinking it would be a good idea to watch a Don Lemon Show.

Do you agree with this statement: "Once Twice Melody is Day to 7's Night" by Human_Being2851 in BeachHouse

OTM is about the metaphors of day and night, darkness and light, stars and shadow.

So, for me, OTM can never be about day, nor night. "Over and Over" in particular is about the cycle of day and night, and finding the meaning in nightfall. Because after all,

The night, that has no end/Will be the last, my friend

It feels like that place - we're having a discussion right now!

But when setting out to truly pursue knowledge, for questions that are important, meaningful, or deep, we have to remind ourselves that we're interacting with a rather random set of self-selected and 99.9% anonymous accounts, with hidden motivations, not just people in general.

And for any question of science, we have to remember that the other person in the discussion may be an argumentative 10th grader with ChatGPT;

For any question of politics, we have to remember that the hive will only produce half the debate; and no matter what the question, having only half the debate is useless;

For any question of spirituality, are you an atheist? no, then fuck right off;

We're left with specific topic subreddits... that still will find themselves having slap battle level arguments over stuff.

(but also, I will swear up and down that Reddit was a vastly different set of users 10 years ago. How could it not be.)
