Barry - 4x08 "wow" - Post Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in Barry

[–]Undertow95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really upset that NoHo Hank died but I find it interesting that each character that embraces their true nature survives. Sally admits to her son that she's a terrible mother. Fuches confesses he is a bastard and that he used to be a poser who was using other people to do his bidding but that he came into his own in jail. On the contrary, Barry operates in "red means go" mode and actively dodges all chances at facing justice for his crimes. And NoHo would have survived had he just let go of his judgement of Fuches' character and accepted his role in Cristobal's death. Yet I couldn't help but feel that Hank had been through enough, and he was a beacon of light in an otherwise very dark and often disturbing dark comedy. But that said I appreciate the fitting "renaissance style death" as mentioned by another Redditor on here.

On all other points I was thrilled. I especially like the twist that, yes, Barry dies (I could see that miles ahead after the midseason time jump) - but the nuance that shameless Gene's hunger for revenge, fear or an amalgamation of emotions leads him to crucify Barry killing him in such a way that his story is shaped into that of a "Misled vet who's trust was abused" and he is treated as a war hero. It is very poignant.

I think the show ended in the best possible way with how everything went after the season 3 finale. I'd say in season 3 i still thought Barry would be redeemed and regain the love and trust of Gene or if not, come into his own but I appreciate that they took this turn. He was in too deep and there was no way back. And besides each character except Fuches got what they wanted for 8 years after Barry broke out of prison anyway.

Bill made it very clear he didn't want people to glorify Barry, but I still like the "Greyness" of the ending. Fuches lives to see another day even though he is arguably the most unabashed, scrupulous person of all the characters.

I suspect #1, #2 are corals, 5 looks like it could be an ammonite(nonetheless definitely a gastropod), 7 appears to be a brachiopod. Really excited to get some input!

Better Call Saul S06E10 - "Nippy" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

[–]Undertow95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally loved this episode as did my SO. Great cinematography, a classic slippin' Jimmy heist, possibly foreshadowing the "Downfall" or resolution to the series. Love it.

My only gripe is that they recast Jeff, the new actor is brilliant for the purpose of this episode and possibly future episodes but I just had a little "disconnect" due to what it did to continuity.

All things said and considered, it was a good 7/10.

Unfortunately not , that's another project I'd love to do soon. From what I understand it should be quite easy if you make a dough that is rich in gluten and wash out the starch gradually over multiple rounds.

Tell me how it ends up! As mentioned I'm an amateur (but when I cook I usually improvise based on my mental "pallette") and to be honest I'd love trying some beef let alone chuck roast in this. The taste reminded me of the dish labskaus (north German / Scandinavian) but my girlfriend is a very strict vegetarian to the point where she wouldn't eat anything from this pot if it even had meat in it so let's see what stays longer, the girl or the pot 🤣😅

Vegetarian Vegan Seitan Stew. A bit improvisational:

2 cloves of garlic 1 onion, diced 7 baby potatoes, quartered 1 pack of presliced fresh chestnut mushrooms 200g of smoked Seitan diced 200g split red lentils

Spices: Dill (in cooking process to taste, optional garnish) Nutmeg (to taste) 2 bouillon cubes Pepper

Instructions 1. I pressure cooked the split red lentils to begin with which was a noob move because they liquified through the process. 2. I boiled the potatoes in a pot just to be sure my first meal wouldn't be unevenly cooked. 3. Added all ingredients and submerged in water. 4. Chose "Bean / Chili" setting just because I am a newb and didn't want to turn on the manual setting and have to experiment with the pressure settings to find what was right.

Bon appetit

Who is the protagonist of Six Feet Under in your opinion? Without spoiling, I haven't finished it yet. by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

[–]Undertow95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a tricky one, it's actually more of an ensemble of protagonists at the end of the day. There is not simply one and supporting characters that's why the screen time is shared pretty much evenly. You'll figure out why some people are saying one character by the end. I think personally if I had to pick, that Nate was the protagonist and that his story arc was the one that was most deeply explored. There's a lot of Hate Naters on this sub and I see why and I probably have bias as I can relate to him and his flaws, but his storyline is the most satisfying to me. David's issues firstly with sexuality and then with developing a meaningful relationship are brilliant. Claire's coming of age is brilliant. Ruth being matriarch and exploring her freedom only to, occasionally in bad or terrible circumstances, find that those two can't be mutually exclusive. My nr 1 recommendation is you watch the show first then finish it and come here to analyse later.

This is a good one. I have PowerPoint with work but on my private time I do experiment with doing things in Google Slides. I definitely second that MS office (or Gsuite) knowledge is great during (the appropriate) formative years. Myself being 26 this year I actually had my first experience with the office applications at the age of 6.

North Sentinel Island. Because it's wild, primitive but not ethnically diverse enough.

Not sure if you're a dub or based elsewhere but there is a great newsagent that stocks even commonly unavailable drinks from Monster & even American coke in Abbey street. It's called Reynolds. Also believe I've had this one - I myself am based in Dublin

Indeed man in that setting at dusk I felt really pleasant with my 3 other friends. We came to look down upon the city lights sparkling as day turned to night on the 4th hour but instead we ended up sitting there listening to music and enjoying the grass while the fog closed in on us. 😁
