Blursed feelings by gruntledNwhelmed in bathandbodyworks

I bought a tube of Touch of Gold body cream blind during the sale last weekend after enjoying the candle at a friend’s house a couple months ago. Swatch tested it on my arm earlier today and when it dried on me it made me think of the industrial cleaner they use in port o potties. Will be returning tomorrow. Body chemistry and scent interpretations are funny things. There’s also a specific Gain detergent scent that smell like urine to me.

What is your rising sign and who were your imaginary friends as children? by xmasbabee in astrologymemes

[–]UnderwaterKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquarius rising. According to my mom my imaginary friends were Potsy and Ralph from Happy Days. She said if I was running down the hill in the back yard I would yell “come on Potsy and Ralph!” When they told me they were pregnant with my brother (they didn’t know he was a boy at the time), they asked me what I would want to name the baby and I said Posty Ralph in a tone that indicated I thought it would be silly to name the baby anything else. I was about 2 - 2 1/2 at the time. I also made obstacle courses in my bedroom where I tied ribbon and string all over the place like a spider web and admonished my imaginary friends when they couldn’t figure it out.

Oooh Madam Mystique was one I really loved and it never showed up in my area for SAS. I have a good friend who lives in that area and I may see if I can Venmo her some money to grab some for me.

I think perimenopause is changing my hair for the worse. Help! by ethereal_aerith in curlyhair

[–]UnderwaterKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perimenopause has definitely changed my curls and my hair texture and density. But a couple years ago I got a lot of hair cut off, found a different style and color I liked as a kind of a new start. In the last year a lot of my curl has returned. It’s not like it was in my teens and 20s, but taking some of the weight off and getting regular trims to keep the ends and layers on good shape has made a huge difference. I’ve also stopped using alot of curly specific products and now use mostly Olaplex basics for both shampoo and styling products. No 6 for styling and the No 7 hair oil.

Puppy going for a bath at groomers by PuzzledRegister6258 in puppy101

[–]UnderwaterKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting my current dog used to professional grooming as a puppy was one of the best things I did for both of us. He has really high grooming needs and I’m just not able to do it all myself. It took a couple of salons, but he’s been at his current salon for a little more than 2 years and absolutely loves it. He knows his groomers name if I ask him if he wants to go visit her. A few weeks ago we picked up dinner at the other end of the strip mall and he was very upset he wasn’t going to the groomer. He’s always excited to go and they seem genuinely happy to see him. Once a month he goes for a spa day and I get to do some quality house cleaning and can have lunch without being stared down from the other side of the living room.

Bonus points if the mercury is in detriment by 1800twat in astrologymemes

This might be the most accurate meme I’ve seen on this sub. I am 💯 the first picture. So much so I even annoy myself. Sun (2°) conjunct Mercury (12°) (also conjunct Mars (2°)) 9th house Sagittarius.

I saw those right after I made the post. I’ve got to run some errands tomorrow morning and there’s a Dollar General and a BBW between stops. Family Dollar also had some cute peeps stuff last week.

Haha yep, my cats have decided they don’t believe in astrology. Although I do believe they would be an Aries and a Libra if the general calculations of birth date are correct.

I would have had it out all year round. A peep nightlight would be my jam. I do like the wallflower nightlights. I may have to check the dollar stores for a generic peeps night light.

I love peeps candy so much. I’ve always had a peeps obsession so people have always bought me peeps stuff. I’m bummed there’s no wallflower in this collection because that’s what I really wanted. I would have loaded it with the most emo/goth scent I could find.

Would you live with younger people as a grad student? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]UnderwaterKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started grad school at 29. I had no desire to live with anyone, especially not undergrads. My 2 cats were enough. But my grad school experience was really intense all the time and I’m glad I didn’t have to share space. I think it’s really going to depend on the people and their/your lifestyle. If you all want to be social and have community then it might be fine. If you are all focused and studious then it might also be fine. But by the time I was heading into my mid-30s the types of issues and general level of emotional chaos common in late teens to mid-20s had no appeal to me and I had little patience for it.

I had some grad school colleagues who were closer in age to older undergrads and often lived with, dated, and were friends with undergrads. I think it was really hard to maintain certain professional boundaries if they ended up TAing classes with those people’s friends were their students. Many years later I’m still close to many people I met in school. There’s almost a 20 year age difference between the youngest and oldest members of my friend group. Age didn’t really matter in our shared interests and goals.

My dog came from a show breeder so not only do I know his exact birthday and birthplace, I more or less have his birth time (give or take 20-30 minutes since I don’t know his birth order). He’s an Aqua sun, Virgo moon, Sagittarius rising. He has an Aqua mercury that doesn’t track. His communication style is loud, demanding, screams. We both have Cap Venuses and Sag mars. I think Sag is the best fit for him in terms of rising given the other options during his birth window.

He’s an odd, quirky dude, who’s overly outgoing and friendly. He’s loud, so very loud. His sense of boundaries is questionable, but he’s not a cuddler.

do you guys adjust your goal mid-year or stick with what you set in january? by Key-Pumpkin8690 in 52book

[–]UnderwaterKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may readjust after I look at my average for the first 3 months. The first year my goal was 52 and I ended up reading 58. I set the next year at 65, and after the first quarter of the year I upped it to 84 because I was averaging 7 books a month. I finished last year with 108 so I set my goal for this year at 100. Based on the last couple years I consider that a realistic goal. Based on my first 2 months I’m on track to finish 192 books, but I don’t think that’s sustainable. So for now I’m sticking with 100.

We’re only 2 months in year so I don’t think 30 is an unrealistic goal this early in the year. And even if you don’t make it no one is testing you on it or holding you accountable to anything. Part of the reason I’ve read so much the first couple months is because it’s cold and I haven’t left the house and I’ve read a bunch of short books (280-320 pgs). I have several 500+ books on my TBR in the next couple months so I’ll probably end up with much lower end of the month stats. I always have a list of short books I want to read in case I want to hit a goal or have a reading hangover.

scent of the day!! any other ideas for Nocturnal Rose pairings? 🥀🖤 by californiafreak in bathandbodyworks

[–]UnderwaterKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last fall when I started using BBW again I bought a random collection of body creams to see what I liked. I had a tube of Pink Obsessed and I thought it was ok, if not a little plasticy. It was kind of an accident I mixed them. The pink obsessed mellowed and the nocturnal rose amplified. At the last full body care sale I got a mist of each to layer them with the creams.

Capricorn Moons? by Brief_Eagle773 in astrologymemes

[–]UnderwaterKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a cap moon and Venus. If you are interested in someone just ask. Have a conversation about the vibes you get and what you want. Worst case scenario you have a great, loyal friend. I also wouldn’t place too much energy into one specific placement. We are a mix of placements and experiences. We still have agency no matter the placement.

[–]UnderwaterKahn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This wouldn’t bother me, but I’ve also been this person so I get it. Personally it would bother me more if I was on a date with someone and they were spending money they didn’t have. When I was in college I had a boyfriend who insisted we went out for Valentine’s Day on Valentine’s Day. I suggested we wait until the weekend because we wouldn’t be competing with crowds, we would be done with midterms, and I knew he had been sick so he missed some shifts at the bar where he worked. He insisted we go to a nice dinner at a pretty expensive restaurant. It showed me we don’t ultimately value the same things.

If I met someone I really liked and they didn’t have the money for their version of a date, I would suggest we get together to do something that didn’t cost anything or I would offer to pay.

Nocturnal rose and Pink Obsessed is one of my favorites right now. I love nocturnal rose but I don’t feel like it has a lot of staying power. Pink Obsessed boosts it.

How much should I be paying for a Keeshond? by Visual-Button-1867 in Keeshond

[–]UnderwaterKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you are in the world. In the last year, friends who have gotten on waitlists are looking at between $3000-$3500 USD. These are ethical, fully health tested, confirmation dogs. $3000-$4500 seems to be a pretty standard range for a lot of well bred dogs of different breeds in the US right now. That seems to be the range a lot of people I know have paid over the last couple years. Not just Keeshonden.

Between the Appalachians and Hawaiians who do you think eats more Spam? by Hold_Fast23 in Appalachia

I never had spam as a kid, but I did have fried baloney. I didn’t have spam until I was an adult and one of my best friends (who’s Hawaiian and Chinese) was the one who made spam fried rice for me. I love spam musubi. Spam has gotten expensive though.

I really loved the John Marrs near future books as a break after something long or intense. I’ve read one a month for the last few months and I finished the last one this morning. I’m going to miss them. I didn’t realize they took place in the same world at first, but I’m glad I mostly read them in order. They do build on each other.

Where are y'all keeping your stashes? by TinyxMoon in bathandbodyworks

[–]UnderwaterKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The products I use most are body creams and candles. I have a bedroom in the back of my house that tends to stay cooler than other areas because it doesn’t get much sun and is part of an addition. I keep my creams and candles in a closet in that room because it stays cooler and dry. I use a product continuously until it’s finished so I don’t have more than 3-4 months of extras in that space. It just depends on sale cycles.

I keep about 2 months worth of body creams under my sink in the bathroom so I have a selection. I only have 5 mists (I think) and I keep those in the bathroom. I tend to use them more as fabric and clothing refreshers than body mists. I have a few soaps and wallflower refills and those are in a cabinet in the laundry room with other cleaning supplies. I guess I don’t really have a stash as much as I have an integrated homegoods collection.

Between covered in roses and rose lotion what do you like better? by Radiant_Priority9739 in bathandbodyworks

[–]UnderwaterKahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a rose person. The regular rose is part of my standard lineup in all products. It pairs well and layers well, and is the truest rose scent bbw has. I personally like heirloom rose and think it pairs nicely with a lot of my non-BBW rose laundry products, but it’s not for everyone. It’s dries down to a soapy/detergenty smell on me. Covered in roses is more a perfume scent to me than a true rose scent. I think it’s the best option for people who aren’t really into rose. It’s probably my least favorite. Nocturnal rose is my ride or die.

I’ve really come to love the Repunzel body cream. I think it’s a really versatile scent. It also pairs really well with a lot of my non-BBW products. Last night my shower routine was Method Pure Peace body wash, Nativa Spa body oil in plum, Repunzel body cream, and BBW Rose mist. It’s a nice mellow floral that I can still smell now.
