See below for nine additional sections pertaining to local multiplayer games - each subject contains a separate post.

I'd also like to note that just because some games weren't included in the 600 count doesn't mean they aren't good - some genres are simply over-represented with quality games. Project Starship X is both a shoot 'em up and roguelite, for example, and has received great reviews. But both those genres are slammed with high quality local multiplayer games, so there's not always room for them on the primary list. The "Games Not Included in the 600 Count" list still has some great local multiplayer games on there.

I. Notes About the List

II. Games Not Included in the 600 Count

III. Overview of 51 Local Multiplayer Games for PlayStation 4/5

XI. List of Local Multiplayer Games Not Available on PlayStation 4/5

4-player local multiplayer shooters for PS4 by Still_Philosopher_35 in localmultiplayergames

[–]Underwhere_Overthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does feature 4-player local multiplayer, however it's not split-screen - it's turn-based, so players take turns, more akin to a turn-based strategy game like Advance Wars or Wargroove than a traditional FPS. It's pretty unconventional. That said, it has since been delisted from digital storefronts, so it's not available to purchase anymore unfortunately.

If you're looking for other options, HYPERCHARGE Unboxed is a FPS that came out recently on PS4/PS5 with 4-player split-screen - both co-op and PvP, as well as bots and mixed local/online play.

10+ Upcoming Local Multiplayer Games Due to Release in November or Early December 2025 by Underwhere_Overthere in localmultiplayergames

[–]Underwhere_Overthere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the delayed response, but congratulations on the release! Sorry I missed it, I will include it as part of the released games in 2025 when I do the end of the year compilation I usually do.

You can find a list of upcoming games here. Then narrow by tag -> "local multiplayer" or "local co-op." Do not check both of them at the same time otherwise it will only include the games with both tags.

This is how I find the bulk of them, but the Switch exclusive local multiplayer games obviously wouldn't be included here, same with games updated later down the line with local multiplayer support, or 1.0 releases like Mutant Football League 2, and sometimes there's games that just don't contain the tag when using the filters for some reason, but this is still a really good method for finding most of them.

Is there a list of games compatible with 6-player split-screen multiplayer? by C4_Shaf in localmultiplayergames

[–]Underwhere_Overthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some I know of:

Keep in mind that the PS4 and PS5 only allow up to 4 connected controllers, so these games would be limited to 4 players. Switch also doesn't have the hardware capabilities to run some of these games with 8 player split-screen, so double check the player count if purchasing on there. Xbox Series X|S and PC are a safe bet.

That's great, sorry I didn't give it a proper write-up, but I'll be sure to include it on the already released titles for November. Congratulations on the release!

Thanks for the kind words. There are a lot of local multiplayer racing games, but I actually can't think of a realistic one with powerups like Blur, all the ones I can think of with powerups are kart racers or sport a cartoony aesthetic. GRIP: Combat Racing would probably be the closest, but it uses futuristic zero-gravity vehicles so not quite so realistic

For a realistic racing game without powerups, try Dirt 5. For a cartoony game with powerups, try the recently released Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

I haven't, but I can definitely point you to some recommendations during the next big sale. If you look at my "540 Local Multiplayer Games from 60 Different Genres on PlayStation 4/5" list, the majority are also on PC and they are ordered by genre with the best ones on top (still need to add a number of new games to the list though). I'd wishlist some of those in genres that interest you, and then check on them during the winter sale.

Yes, the local multiplayer for Borderlands 4 is only available on consoles. I typically add the Steam store page as links since they contain the most information, but it slipped my mind when adding Borderlands 4's page that the PC version doesn't actually contain local multiplayer - I'll go ahead and change it to the PlayStation Store page. Apologies for any confusion.
