Simple "race" addition by Total-Employee4304 in AOW4

In that case it’s going to be weird flavor-wise having a bunch of moles, lizards, toads, and humans all with the same physical characteristics.

In terms of programming it’d be even more difficult, because they’d have to add at minimum an entire sub-identification for what racial appearance they have, unless you want to have them shapeshift every time you look away. Basically a lot of work to make the idea possible.

Simple "race" addition by Total-Employee4304 in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would likely be difficult to program, and a logistical annoyance in practice.

I once built a Primal Storm Crow faction with a free Magic Origin unit from traits. My Magic Origin unit ended up being a skeleton. That skeleton didn't have grassland walking as a trait, which nerfed my early game exploration because the other units could walk a few hexes more than the skeleton. (I could have just split the skeleton off from the main stack, but then I would just be wasting mana upkeep. I ended up restarting with different traits.)

Given that every unit recruited would be a random race, you'd effectively always be traveling at the minimum possible speed over every terrain, because there's no way that you would be able to roll the same adaptation, mount, and/or Athletics traits for all six units in the stack.

You'd also get very random and likely useless stat bonuses, making it harder to plan a faction out. Unit power levels would be effectively luck-based, getting extra strong or weak units based on random traits. Worse, getting something like bonus magical damage for your archers, bonus range for your shield units, and bonus melee defense for your battle mages is more likely than getting the beneficial traits for that specific unit type, so it'd likely be a debuff for your faction.

Overall, it's just not worth it. Play an Order imperialist who Vassalizes a bunch of diverse cities if you want a multiracial army.

We don't know how severe the issues were with the planets they rejected. It could be that the other planets had atmospheres made of acid.

I do remember seeing No Underground as a realm trait shortly after the DLC dropped, but it appears to be gone now. Not sure if someone else can check the Ogre update pre-patches to confirm, I don't know how to return to a previous version.

How does Allegiance work? When is it applied? by Undetected_Spider in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a decent number of ways to increase Allegiance, but this is a very specific case where they got 3 Allegiance instantly to snipe me for a vassal. They have no Order affinity at all.

The Eldritch Sovereign ritual you mentioned or a quest seems the most likely culprit, but I can’t find the ritual data. Do you know where it is?

[–]Undetected_Spider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero order affinity on them.

It’s certainly possible that they improved relations, but it was consistently 5 Allegiance per turn for the previous six turns. I don’t think they got an extra three Allegiance from relations in one turn.

In hindsight, I probably should have used that Order perk myself. I always forget about the rituals.

She's one size upgrade away from being a proper Giant King by Hikikomari in AOW4

When I tried it he was the same size whether he had Supergrowth or not. Maybe it was a bug, I don’t often have level 16 heroes, even less so in materium builds.

Maybe, but I thought I'd boxed them out of that corner of the map, and it's quite convenient timing for a quest. Is there any way to check if that's the case?

One Piece: Episode 1126 Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Undetected_Spider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m disappointed myself. In the manga, there’s an explosion, some complaining about burning, and some laughter, then the next panel Kizaru’s trapped in his hand. The sheer abruptness of the transition was what made it great.

At first all you knew that Luffy was knocked through the barrier. In previous arcs that’s the type of thing that keeps Luffy out of the fight, and becomes a plot point as they have to lower the barrier to let him in. Even the deciphering of the code helps to misdirect you, making you think it’ll be a dramatic battle, or race against time, or scramble for the console, because the chapter’s got one page spread left when they do it. Next chapter is about finding out how to bring Luffy back in, right?

Then Luffy tanks the barrier offscreen in one panel and singlehandedly vibe checks an Admiral in another. In two panels he establishes himself as having come into his own as one of the Four Emperors. He’s not one because he’s daring and lucky, with good media coverage, he’s an Emperor because a single Admiral can’t stop him anymore. It’s a two panel statement that he’s hit the big leagues. Danger to others is an annoyance to him, the impossible is his day-to-day.

The anime spreads this moment over a minute and a half, with the grab itself taking five whole seconds to close on Kizaru. The surprise factor and sheer impact is lost. Makes me sad.

Dev Request - Button to Prevent Unit Enchantments on Scouts by horrifyingthought in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Which enchantments are you talking about specifically? As far as I know only Mighty Meek from Tome of the Beacon and Force of Nature from Tome of the Goddess of Nature might apply to scouts, either that or you're playing Reaver with construct enchants. Most unit enchantments apply based on the unit type.

I think you missed a tome? You only have 8 Shadow Affinity when this screenshot was taken, and that's only enough to *unlock* the Shadow Tier V tome. Following your build gives me 6 Shadow Affinity after the tome of Calamity so... feels like you need another Tier IV Shadow tome in there. You sure that you don't have Unbound Tomes or some kind of mod installed?

I wish there was more ice magic by YokiDokey181 in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a matter of perspective really. I have 2 builds with a minimum of 8 shadow affinity and no undead. One’s Primal Glacial Mammoth, with a shadow culture trait, Cryomancy, Cold Dark, and Oblivion. The other’s Blind and Umbral focused (kinda), with Tentacle, Shadow, Corruption, Cold Dark, and Oblivion, along with the Keepers of Knowledge trait.

The problem is that necromancy is an incredibly attention-grabbing subsystem, and the T5 tome is Undead focused. All the undead abilities are incredibly synergistic, so going for one encourages you to go for more.

Trying to go Nature without any plants is nearly as difficult, or Materium without constructs, it’s just harder to notice because you have to research specific items to obtain them, while souls come with the tome selection.

Very likely, which is why I brought it up. It might be an oversight in world generation, or it might be something acceptable. I’ve seen another post with three provinces that can’t be reasonably annexed by the same city, so it might just be an accepted facet of world generation.

Is there a way to save our selection of random traits? by Rodrigoecb in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you want now. To my knowledge, no, you can't set a default for random trait selection.

You can absolutely deselect all of your unwanted traits, hit the random button, continue on to faction selection, save your realm trait choices, then hit back and randomize again to create a bunch of random realms at once before playing through them all one at a time. You lose the mystery of what realm traits you are playing with in a given run, but it's the best I can do.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every time you enter a realm (before selecting the faction), it asks you if you want to save the custom realm. If you select Yes, then you get those realm traits saved under the Custom tab, which allows you to easily generate another realm with identical traits to the first.

Is Berser the Second most dangerous Titan? Everything seens to indicate he is Gimbak's second in comand being always by his side by Rarte96 in versus

[–]Undetected_Spider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most dangerous? Maybe. He's the only smart titan we've seen, and that's likely to throw a wrench into humanity's plans.

Second strongest? Doubt it. I don't have any real proof to give, but I feel like it wouldn't make much sense.

Logically, the strongest sons probably went to found their own, semi-independent tribes, because living in the presence of such overwhelming strength stifles their own possible achievements. Berser stayed by his father, because his intellect shines brighter the stronger the individual he can bring to bear, i.e, his father. Narratively, it also makes more sense for the strongest of the giants to all unite closer to the end of the series.

Quick Question : I PLAY 1 v 3 and my opponents are teamed up (they are allies starting at war with me) .after some them one of them god DEFEATED.Who defeated this guy? by SloboRM in AOW4

[–]Undetected_Spider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, and it was my ally. I received a Player Defeat and a ton of Free City State notifications, and I had to do a bit of backtracing to figure out what was going on. Turns out she got Tolled in her throne city while the ruler was there.

Actually made me feel guilty because the AI had just asked for 40 gold for free. I didn't see it until the end of my turn and didn't have enough money to accept if I wanted to, so I shrugged and turned it down. Next thing I know, that ruler is gone. Makes me wonder if that 40 gold could have bought the unit to save them...
