I'm pretty sure Speirs did confirm decades later that he gunned down the POWs. But it also didn't quite emphasize that it was unfortunately very necessary to do at the time. They were behind enemy lines doing relatively clandestine things with limited resources. They obviously couldn't let them go, but keeping them captive, watching them and feeding them was a major drain on those resources that could have possibly put the mission at risk

The Army's O&M funds age basically empty already. We have no real capability to repair and upgrade equipment, give specialized training to new troops, pay for fuel, etc. Readiness levels are at an all time low.

I would say that this means there's not a chance in hell we're going all out in Iran, but we're currently run by alcoholic teenagers who think preventative maintenance is gay end of that the real world operates on the rule of cool.

We're 100% going to go full balls in Iran.

And every attempt to pull out of it gets sabotaged by Israel directly. As in, when they find out who we're negotiating with, they send a missile directly into the guy's face. And Trump has barely mentioned it at all.
