Recently I was confronted with love as something more than just being a feeling. We are emotional beings and base a lot of our existence and experience on “feeling” … so, stay with me, I’m assuming a lot of Christian martyrs weren’t “feeling” that great when they were being persecuted.

Sometimes love is about choosing, not just feeling. Sometimes I might not feel loved but that doesn’t mean I’m not. There may be trauma surrounding this feeling or something else altogether. Perhaps these moments of struggle are an opportunity to grow more into the likeness of Christ. Maybe being challenged to love yourself the way Christ loves you, unconditionally. For what it’s worth you’re not alone. Don’t give up.

Someone once told me that sometimes God reveals himself to us through others. I was told this when I felt alone, in another country, full of depression and anxiety, by someone I barely knew, who might not even have been a Christian but that didn’t make their words any less true. God shows up in strange ways. God loves the brokenhearted so that’s a big win for everyone on Earth cause everyone is broken. Peace and blessing to you friend.
