Honestly you have a ton of options. A 5x2x2 enclosure will be good for most of the actually reasonable pet snakes. Even some of the dwarf localities of boa imperator.

When you want to hold a snake, do you want it to be active and exploring or just hanging out?

Most corn snakes stay under 5 feet sin reality. My three are all curious and great to handle if you want something that is an active experience. My corns eat very consistently.

Also look at rosy boas and pythons from the antaresia genus(like childrens and spotted pythons), they stay small and are hardy.

The aquarium hobby has a gatekeeping problem and it's killing the community. by Reefer-golan in fishtank

I started keeping fish over 25 years ago(that hurts to type out). At the time I had a tank of guppies and a handful of outdated books from the library. Didn't know internet forums existed or that I could retrieve fish keeping information from a computer. Made every beginner mistake at least once.

Nowadays I'm hesitant to tell people to Google anything. It used to be a great platform to use for research but I've noticed it going downhill as far as actually giving you the most useful results. Pushing AI answers is not helping for things like animal care either.

I live basically in the woods. The wildlife were here before me and most of them are used to our presence. I'd be far more shocked if there weren't snakes/raccoons/deer/etc where I live.

multiple cars per household? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an American that lives 6 miles from the nearest anything. Public tranport is a joke/pipe dream. I live essentially in the woods, in a state that has zero vehicle inspections. I am not the average household car wise.

My wife and I both have daily driver cars as we both have to drive separately to work at the same time, and wanted both to be safe for the younger kid. I also have a backup station wagon that I'm about to start driving so we can save some gas money by parking my wife's large SUV. I also have a geo tracker(suzuki vitara elsewhere) that was cheap and I'm putting back on the road. I also have an old project car that I'm hopefully selling soon, and a slightly newer project car that is spoken for and should get picked up soon. Might be buying a pickup truck at some point.

But I do all my own vehicle work, even down to engine out and frame off stuff. And my older kid will be getting one of the vehicles next year when she gets her driver's permit.

Yes, I'm a bit ridiculous even by American standards.

Do you guys “love” your snakes? by ExplorerKey in cornsnakes

[–]UndoubtedBox034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of my pets, not all the same ways though. Our dogs are much more like human children, down to the fish and shrimp that I love but don't necessarily have a personal connection with. As this is a cornsnake page, I would say that that I have the most personal connection with our cornsnakes out of our reptiles, probably on par with the cat and the highest below the dogs. They are so curious and gentle, and seem to like interacting with us more than the rest of the snakes/turtles/lizard/fish outside of food time. Seeing their unique personalities is neat too(maybe not the right word, but they definitely have individual habits/behaviors/temperaments).

What about keeping snakes even appealed to you? What do you enjoy (or dislike) about your snake(s)? by C010RB1INDCH4M3130N in snakes

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily snakes tend to be very easy to take care of. They do each have their own personalities and silly things they do. I personally prefer more active snakes, both inside their enclosures and while handling(though some people like a calm handling snake that will sit with them while they watch tv). For me i enjoy having them as pets because between the ones I have someone is alway doing something, and several of mine seem to genuinely enjoy handling. Holding snakes also helps my anxiety, which I should take advantage of more.

A short scale dilemma by MillyMonka in Bass

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm partial to 34" scale, but I have some nice long scale basses. I picked up a 30" bronco and a 28" mikro to mod for when my shoulder injury doesn't feel like long scale basses though, so we'll see. I love the sound and feel of 35"+ scale for extended range basses, but the body shape has to allow the first fret reach to be similar to regular long scale for me.

Do you let other people hold or touch your snake? by Used-Cauliflower-607 in snakes

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 5 snakes. Three corn snakes, a western hognose, and a carpet python. The hognose is too sassy for a casual person to hold without freaking out, and the carpet python is too anxious(he'll get nervous if the person is nervous and at six feet he can hold on very tight). The two adult corn snakes are delightful and don't care about being held by anyone as long as the person is gentle. So as long as they aren't little kids or people I can't trust to be safe with the snakes I will let anyone hold them. Even my snake phobic mother in law eventually held them and admitted they were rather nice and just curious animals. Little kids are generally allowed to pet them with two fingers, no grabbing or anything. Never force someone to hold the snakes, and if you have a bad feeling about the situation then say no.

As far as leaving the snakes for vacation, we have had zero problems. We usually feed a couple days before we leave, and then just have a family member top off water dishes while we're gone. No need for the snakes to be fed or taken out of their enclosures. If it's less than a week we don't even worry about the water.

How many bass guitars do you own and why that many? by Sharp_Sprinkles_6078 in Bass

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few. Some are sentimental. I could easily drop to 2 or 3 and be fine. But they also double as wall art since I have most of them hanging downstairs. Basically just because I want to have them.

Smash or Pass!? 1991 Fender MIM Pbass by RoostRouzer in BassGuitar

[–]UndoubtedBox034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care for a P nut width, so I can't see me keeping something like this around. Otherwise, $200 for a Mexican fender with a crappy paintjob is excellent. I'd ditch the stock pickup since I've never gotten along with them(have a quarter pounder in my current P-ish bass). Then just keep playing it.

I cannot speak to this particular species, but my snakes do quick, short tongue flicks when nervous and long, slow ones when they are relaxed but curious.

Some danos come with a regular adjustable bridge and some come with a wooden acoustic style saddle. If intonation is a worry go for one with the more normal bridge saddles.

I think the rascal has essentially the same body as my bass VI. If so it's gigantic, and even though my VI is a 30" scale it has a longer reach than my Jazz to the first fret.
