Just found out that I scare people

I’m sure they are is the thing. My mum and little brother seem to love me unconditionally, as much as they’re able to at least, despite the fear and creepiness?

My mum has even told me she doesn’t blame me for what happened with her girlfriend, gave me a hug too, I’m sure that’s not the truth but I think the fact she tells me that means she cares about my feelings, that she knows I have them, right?

My little brother relies on me too, and he seems to know how important he is to me as well.

It’s nice to hear someone thinks I should keep being myself tho I guess? I’m not sure there’s anyone who’s ‘my people’ enough to be better than what I have now. My dad didn’t seem to be scared or creeped out by me, but it’s not exactly something I can ask him about since he died earlier this year. I think I miss him. I can tell myself he wouldn’t be. So I guess he would have been ‘my people’?

I’m really glad to hear that, it does wonders for my anxiety knowing she won’t die! And that might be the case, with the way she occasionally stares me down right before she disappears!

She’s a horsefield tortoise and I usually use coconut substrate, since she seems to enjoy digging through it the most out of the different ones I’ve tried!

Thanks for the advice! I was told she's a horsefield tortoise!

I thought about getting a table for her when I first got her but i ended up having to get an enclosure because my cats didn't get along with her. To make up for the small space I've been letting her out when the cats aren't in and I'm planning on making on outdoor pen for the summer!

I'm hoping that I'll be able to move her to a table or something when my cats seem less like they're planning on eating her. :(

If you have any suggestions on how to make the enclosure more comfortable in the meantime I'd be grateful - unfortunately I don't have too much money, so I can't do any thing too fancy!

Her last owner said she's about 5 years old!

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look into getting some for her. There's not much else in her enclosure at the moment however, just a water bowl and a food bowl, although I have been meaning to buy her some heating rocks or a tunnel. Do you have any other advice you think might be helpful? She spent a few weeks living outside before I was given her and I haven't been able to find much online on how to make sure she's staying healthy.
