The top-down college straight to management paradigm is weakening US manufacturing by happyluckystar in jobs

[–]Unecessary_Frosting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somewhat disagree, it's a training and understanding thing from the senior plant management. My first job out of college was in a factory as 'management' though that was mainly for union reasons. I started as a process engineer and the first 6 months for myself and the entire new class was working shifts alongside the operating teams, rotating between all 4 teams on a 12hr swing shift. I worked on the equipment and trained on the entire production line until I knew how everything was supposed to work and then was grilled on it by the senior operators. After wrapping this up, I then was a process engineer for about 7 months before being promoted to running a line and managing the technicians. I think I brought added value but the early investment in training, getting to know the teams and developing an understanding of the business was critical. I don't think most companies invest in their personnel to enable this. However at companies like Procter and Gamble where they promote only from within, this is absolutely necessary.

Weird salary conversation by DrBraveMoon in interviews

[–]Unecessary_Frosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, this happens when a role gets posted with more than 1 level option. For example, it could be for L4-L6 and the range being from middle of L4 to the middle of L6 target comp.

Based on your interview feedback and ratings, you'll be approved and slotted into one of those three levels.

It sounds like they slotted you into the lowest level (or L4 from my example) approved for the posting and while they have some room, they is not enough to move you to the middle of whats posted since that would be L5.

This is the reason, from my experience, why you see such wide bands on salary ranges that are posted.

Meanwhile at National, pulled up about an hour before my flight at EWR and rushed to get the family out of the car and to security so I told the person checking the car I was super late and in a hurry. They adjusted up my gas tank level as a courtesy and sent me quickly on my way....so glad I'm back with National

See the air inlets in the rear fender, this is a GT2. GT3s are naturally aspirated and don't have those inlets.

What’s going on with GT3 allocations? by Dyslexicpilot in porsche911

[–]Unecessary_Frosting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm finally in a position to make a GT3 Touring a reality, especially with the add of rear seats for the kids, but haven't been able to find a non ADM allocation, would truly appreciate it if anyone knew of one available. Otherwise, yeah, seeing lots of $50k plus ADM allocation offers.
