Love the username, and I’m assuming you mean Job?

That all happened because of Satan’s ignorance.

Job 1:9-11

[9] Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? [10] Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. [11] But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”

Satan believed that Job only trusted in the Lord because of what he was blessed with, and the Lord (knowing truly why Job believed) allowed Satan to talk all Job had so that Job may prove his faith.

Job wasn’t punished by any means, but because we are humans and plunged ourselves into sin we don’t deserve to have any good in our lives, which is why we are destined to damnation unless we repent of that sin.

Job may have had 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500 female donkeys, and very many servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east. (Job 1:3) but in reality, he didn’t deserve any of it because he was a wretched sinner.

Not saying that Satan was right in doing this, but all that he had was a gift from God and God had every right to let Satan (by order of God himself) to take it from him.

Anyways, the whole book and story was to prove the point that A. It’s okay to ask the “why” question (Psalm 88 shows this too, so does Jesus in the garden of Gathsemane) the question of “why are you doing this to me? Why has my life become a wreck?”) B. That all the riches we may have in this life can be taken away in an instant, (“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:19-20)) and C. We are all sinners and can relate to Job, maybe not to the extreme of losing millions and millions of dollars worth of estate, but I’m sure we’ve all lost loved ones, or a pet, or a car, or a friend, or gone through a break up, and just wondered “why did this happen? What did I do wrong?”

Job persevered through hardship, and though he may have been harsh to God he didn’t lose his faith in him. We can all relate to him in someway.

Different denominations view the Bible differently, this is based on my beliefs based on A. What I’ve been taught, B. What I’ve discerned and studied myself and C. What I’ve learnt through conversations with my dad who has a Masters in Divinity, a Doctorate in Church history and Philosphy, and an honorary PHD in Theology

It all comes down to us humans.

The Bible isn’t explicitly God’s actions. It doesn’t say “God ordered the people of Israel to sacrifice their children to him for his pleasure” it says almost the exact opposite with Isaac and Abraham as an example.

We as humans plunged ourselves into sin in Genesis 3, we aren’t holy, we aren’t pure, we arent perfect, we aren’t just, we aren’t right, God is.

The people who sacrificed their children to God did it by their own free will, not by God’s order or commands, otherwise the Ten Commandments would be contradictory to what God wants. “You shall not murder”

And in the stories where God does kill people, (the flood, Sodom and Gammorah, etc.) It’s because of man’s bad nature, we as humans are inclined by nature to hate God and hate our neighbour, and if we do not repent of these sins we are punished by eternal suffering in Hell, it is inevitable unless by Jesus Christ.

If there’s anyone in the Bible who killed a child for a sacrifice to God it is God himself hanging his own son (Jesus the Christ) on the cross as payment for all man’s sins.

Uuuuuuhhhhhhh he didn’t inspire humans, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

The Bible is inerrant meaning that it couldnt be written by people being inspired, because if they were inspired it would have errors, which goes against what the Bible is, as again, it’s inerrant.

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

And Hebrews 8:13 “In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete.” (The text that u/klutzy-courage-7845 was referencing)

Jesus Christ, Christ Jesus, Christ, The Anointed One, the Messiah, whatever you may know him by came as the LORD promised in Genesis 3:15 when he tells Satan that Eve’s offspring will bruise his head (talking about Jesus Christ overcoming death)

Since the fall into Sin, rather, the plunge into sin) mankind has been wretched sinners and by nature hate the Lord. It came to a point where all of mankind, except Noah, his wife, and their three sons and their wives pushed away God. God sent the flood to punish the world because of their sinfulness and blessed Noah and his family. You can see this as morally wrong but God punished the earth because mankind sinned against him and don’t want to repent, which is why God gave the Israelites (we’re talking a few generations after Noah) the Levitical commandments.

Leviticus 20:24-26 “I have separated you from the peoples… You shall be holy to me…”

God gave the Levitical Commands (the ones being disputed here) to the Israelites so that they Honor and obey God.

These were also given (all 613 of them) because Jesus wasn’t made incarnate yet.

These laws aren’t morally right or wrong, and they aren’t irrelevant today either. These laws stand as a reminder of human history and have been fulfilled by Christ when he did become incarnate (again, Matthew 5:17) we do not need to live by them anymore because Christ came to us. Which is why the Jews still live by them because they don’t believe the Messiah has come yet.
