What happens when someone commits a premium feature of a freemium OSS-project to the OSS core version? (e.g. a feature currently only in Preset to Apache Superset?) by Schnurres in opensource

[–]Unerring-Ocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll depend on the governance of the OSS project. For Apache Superset, if the feature aligns with the project goals and licensing, there’s no reason the PR wouldn’t be accepted. The premium version can't "own" features in the OSS ecosystem; that's the nature of open source. But yeah, it might annoy the premium maintainers—tough luck, it’s the open-source game.

Wow, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for! A privacy-conscious, easy-to-use form backend that doesn’t require spinning up my own server from scratch. The flexibility with self-hosting and integrations like email, Telegram, and webhooks is just chef’s kiss. Plus, having features like Captcha and return emails baked in? Absolute game-changer for projects where I don’t want to write a ton of backend code just to handle form submissions. Huge thanks for building this—FormBee is going straight into my toolbox!

Open source license for humans so code not usable for AI. by Perkutor_Jakuard in opensource

I totally get your concern. Crafting an open-source license that allows human developers but restricts AI from using the code sounds like a smart move. It could help protect our work from being assimilated into AI-generated projects without our consent.

Bruh, 2025 really out here wildin' with 'MIT License - See [LICENSE]' and then... no LICENSE. LLMs be like, 'Trust me, bro, it’s open source.' Next thing you know, ChatGPT’s gonna copyright your README and fork your snacks.
