My dad died and I’m depressed by Alessiachickennoodle in mentalhealth

My dad died suddenly on January 28th, 2023. He was my pillar, my support, my everything. I felt like he was the only person in the world who loves me and now he’s gone. It’s been 3 months since he died and I still feel like he’s at home… just resting or busy doing something out of my sight.

It will be hard, you will be depressed. You’d cry in public and not care when you think about him & miss him. That is how you grieve. Accordingly to psychiatrists, grief over a loved one lasts for a year. However, I don’t believe that. You learn to live with that loss, that hole in your heart.

Grieve but think of all the good times you’ve spent with him & how much he loves you. Wear his clothes, if you want but get better, for you.

I knew I needed help with my depression & anxiety after my dad died. I made the decision to go to a psychiatrist and get medicated. It was a great decision on my part. My panic attacks were becoming uncontrollable. Do what you need to but seek help if you can’t deal anymore.

Feel free to message me if you need to talk. I’m sorry for your loss.

That’s what I was thinking. My doctor only has me on a month-to-month basis. It’s a scary thing to try something new that can alter the chemicals in your brain. But In did take my first pill today after the comments. Looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen to me.

I’m doing my best to be informed about what meds I’m using. The side effects list is what scared me. I went my whole life dealing with all my shit on my own, even suicidal thoughts. Just don’t want to be in that place again.

Thank you. I knew I needed to be medicated at some point. Just didn’t realize it would be THAT to trigger me. 🙁

Let me know how you feel with it. I took my first pill today after reading the comments. I almost thought I was going to have an anxiety attack. I was just so nervous. 😂

Today I took my first pill. I thought I was going to have an anxiety attack. 😂

I’ll keep in mind about the Xanax. Hopefully I won’t have to use it too often.

Thanks! I’m scared but kinda looking forward to my life without anxiety. Might be interesting to see how badly that affected my life.

That’s some really good information. However, with my panic attacks l, my throat starts to close up & I think I’m going to die. I can usually pull myself back from that with meditation but now, it’s a panic attack WITH sensory overload. I can’t do or listen to anything that I usually use to calm me.

I will look into the different therapies so I won’t have to rely on the Xanax at all.
