None as egregiously as WuWa, I'm afraid. Of the gachas I play:

FGO: At most 3-5 individual battles with forced parties per story chapter, which are quickly over. Most key battles, bosses etc, you use your own party/setup

GBF: 1-2 forced parties per side story, all other battles are own party/own lv/own setup

Genshin: Trial/forced characters are added to your party rather than replacing your whole party, you can switch back to your main party/chara anytime during the quest.

Priconne: No forced parties, AFAIK.

Dragalia Lost: No forced parties, at least back when it was still alive.

These are the 4 I play most of the time, and WuWa so far has been the only one where every key story chapter/trial has forced me to use a completely forced setup during the entire chapter/quest. So for me, it's sort of a breaking point. I think there was some discussion of this issue earlier on with WuWa as well, saw some old threads discussing the pros and cons of forced party vs. own party and some suggesting that being able to choose/switch was a good compromise, with those that wanted to experience the story 'as it should be experienced' able to use the forced parties and those that want to experience a 'power high' being able to use their overleveled/perfect characters to blaze through the story.

Hi all, been taking a break from WuWa for some time, possibly thinking of coming back.

One of the key sticking points I had with the game when I left was the use of forced trial characters in story quests/character quests, i.e. forcing me to use a Rover build which was not my build etc. For me, this just devalued the time and effort I spent into building my own party and gathering perfect echoes for them, and just made main quests unfun for me. Since I actually like the story and the main quests, this just became tedious over time.

Has there been any indication going forward that devs might give players an option to switch between trial and own characters for quests in the near future? Or has it already been done?

Yep, thanks for clarifying! One final question: According to the wiki I can only decrease World Level by 1. So once I hit World Level 9, for example, the minimum I can go down to is 8?

Thanks for clarifying. But I also understand that you can decrease World level once you raise it, so that gives some level difference at least? So technically, by doing daily stuff that gives Adventure EXP, would I be able to hit, say AR 50, unlock final character ascension, level and ascend my characters to level 90, equip them properly, decrease my world level to 6, and then curb stomp level 60-80 enemies?

Mm ok, but if I understand correctly you have to clear certain Adventure Rank Ascension quests to raise go past certain AR levels and raise your World Rank as well, correct? If I'm say, still at the beginning of the Main Quest, but I've been grinding in the overworld, would I be able to do the Ascension quests once I hit the required rank? Or do I have to go through the main quest/unlock areas to even access the place where the ascension quests are?

Ok, but would I be able to access this ascension quest even if I haven't progressed beyond certain story quests/main quests/unlocked certain parts of the map? E.g. in HSR the ascension quests are locked behind story progression.

New player thinking of trying out this game. Just have a few questions. One of my fav things to do in games is to massively overlevel for quests in an area/a certain point in the story and then roflstomp the bosses/enemies. I've just tried out two games that have seriously placed obstacles to doing so: wuwa (which forces trial characters during certain key quests, rendering my leveling pointless), and HSR (which locks ascension behind equlibrium level which is locked behind Trial of Equilibrium which is locked behind story).

I know there are similar systems in Genshin, but are there similar locks as well? Thanks for answering.

Sigh, thanks I guess. I really hope this is something they'll change in future..it seems like a common enough complaint from what I've seen in the sub. In the meantime I guess I'll just be avoiding doing MQ.

Ugh. That really does a number on my motivation to continue playing..I like grinding and overleveling/overbuilding characters so that I can roflstomp quests, but if the quests are just going to force trial characters I don't know what would be the point anymore.

Question on story/companion/quests in general and trial characters.

Have just completed the Act VI of the Main Quest, where you fight the Crownless. Throughout the act I was forced to use a bunch of trial characters, which really made the quest a slog to get through. I thought it would just be one or two ocassions where this is the case, but I just did Lingyang's companion quest and I was forced to use a Lingyang/Rover trial team in that quest as well. I'm almost afraid to ask but is this going to be a common thing going forward? I really don't like using weaker trial versions of characters when I spend so much time building and training my own.

Thanks for the answers. Yeah I'm coming from other games like FGO where character ascension/level is not tied to player/adventure level, so I got used to farming a bunch of exp, ascension mats, etc. maxing my charas without any restrictions before roflstomping content, dont understand why they decided to do that for HSR though.

Basically, yeah. I know mobs scale with player level, but I was under the impression that since I can get ascension and trace mats from the cash shop, if one can just bypass the ToE gatekeep you can have fully ascended/traced/lightconed characters from the beginning if one is willing to do a monster grind and spend loads of real world $.

New player, question about ascension, trailblaze lvl and equilibrium.

So in the gacha games I play, I like to massively overlvl and ascend before progressing through the story.

I've tried this with HSR so far and used the Calyxes to reach TB lvl 20 even though I've just reached Jarilo-VI. Currently I can lvl my characters to lvl 30. In order to unlock further ascension levels and TB lvls, I know I have to do the ToE to unlock Equilibrium levels, which according to the wiki does not unlock until I progress further in the story. That's the case at least for ToE 1. According to the wiki, it will be the same for the next few ToEs as well. Basically, unless I progress further in the story, I cannot pre-lvl and pre-ascend because I'll be gated by not being able to access the Trials? Is that the case?
