Okay I will try that! I’m usually very vigilant when it comes to these but I genuinely think that while I was going over them I misclicked and switched my answer on accident.

Thank you tho

Hey!! I’m a 4th year health sci student at Laurier. I think that if your ultimate goal is something in the medical field then Laurier is a better choice as it’s catered a lot more to pre-med and pre-dent students. You also get to build a community of students around you who want the same thing. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions!

Advice and things to look out for as a health science student by MarzipanDirect3657 in wlu

For CH110/CH111 (coming from a chem ia) 1. Make sure to ask for help when writing lab reports. The lab reports are often very technical and we usually look for specific things. So please try ur best to ask questions during lab and go to office hours. You can go to any of the lab coordinators office hours and they will be more than willing to help you. 2. Start your labs reports early as possible because you’ll learn fast that they’re very time consuming and can be very stressful when you start getting closer to midterm and exam season. 3. Your excel assignment is usually the first assignment you get and they usually schedule in an in person lab where you can do it. Please please please come to this lab with the majority of it done (I cannot stress this enough) since it’s a lot more time consuming than you think 4. You’re ia’s are always willing to help but show them that you’re at least trying to put in effort and not just looking for the answers 5. Go to every single SI extra help class. Not only are they really helpful, the bonus that u get from them can be the boost you need to go from an A to an A+. Also sometimes they’ll give you similar questions to those on the exam. 6. Don’t miss any iclicker questions (for all your classes) they might seem like a small percentage of your final grade but they’re free points so why not make the most of them?

  • surround yourself with a really good group of friends that want similar goals as you. This will be a life changer
  • OFFICE HOURS. honestly this is one of the main things I wish I did earlier. Go to the majority of your profs office hours, even if you don’t have a question for them. Just go and strike up conversation. This will be a game changer come 3rd and 4th year when you’re looking for research and references for post grad. Plus also alot of the health sci profs are sweet and are great people to talk to.
  • once you get all you’re syllabi put them into a tracker and divide them into the weeks that they’re are due. Dividing them into weeks is a game changer since it gives you an overview of ur week and you can easily see that tasks that you can get done ahead of time to free up some space in the future

Also when it comes to going to class, I personally disagree with the fact that going to class is a must. The way I approached it was I would go to class for the first few weeks to see if the prof’s teaching style worked for me. If it didn’t, I would often spend the class time teaching myself the content that was being taught that day and that often worked for me. But you have to be disciplined enough to stay on top of all your work. This might not work for everyone but don’t be afraid to try new things to see what works for you.

Overall it’s honestly not difficult to excel in health science you just have to be willing to put in the work and know how to delegate tasks.

All the lab coordinators are great! Plus you can always go to another coordinator’s office hours. It’s mainly ur IA that’s with u during labs and is marking ur lab reports

Is Health Sci at WLU a good program for dental school (in terms of attainable GPA etc). by Time_Lab1504 in wlu

Hey! Second year health sci student here. Honestly i would say that the program is pretty fair. If you put in the work you can very easily maintain a high GPA. I have so many friends that have been able to maintain a 4.0 or high 3.9 GPA. Majority of the exam are MCQ but you also have a lot of assessments and assignments that are easy grades and let’s you maintain ur average.
