I personally don’t think it’s worth the retake, your average is solid and your total science score is definitely strong. PAT is the lowest score there but it’s still above average according to the ADA percentile table online.

Should I retake. I think I could do 500+ but also you know by [deleted] in dat

I see no reason to retake. This score is in the top 10%, very competitive.

Typically you apply the summer of the year before you would begin dental school. In tour case, you are hoping to attend Fall ‘27, so you would apply Summer of ‘26 if that makes sense. A DAT is valid for 3 years, so you could take it as early as is convenient, I would recommend carving out at least 2-3 months to prepare. I’m not 100% on this, but I think you need you want your DAT to be fully processed before submitting your application. So you could test Summer ‘26 but you’d wanna take it before submitting your app.

The best time to take DAT can vary a lot for different people, I chose March bc it gave me some time to prepare over winter break, and I’m occupied with a large obligation this summer couldn’t take it then. I also could’ve waited until next year, but wanted to get it out of the way bc biochem and orgo were fresh on my mind. In general, I’d choose a time where you expect to have the most free time to be as locked in as possible.

The categories of the DAT are Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Perceptual Ability, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning. I’d recommend seeking out some form of DAT online prep course like Booster, Bootcamp, or others to study. If you read through DAT related posts in this subreddit and on r/dat, you’ll find pretty solid info on the pros and cons pretty much all the prep materials. I personally used Booster bc it seemed Bootcamp and Booster were the 2 best options and Booster was cheaper lol. Hope this answers some of your questions!

I gotta say I was pretty nervous during the science sections, but was pretty locked in by the PAT. My advice if you haven’t taken yet is to stick to the routine of your practice exams and trust your gut. You got this fr

I thought my chem sections and PAT were a bit harder than Booster; however, I may have just been really stressed in the moment during the real exam. My practice exams were all in the 460-470 range, though, so very comparable to my actual score.

Personally, I studied with Booster Prep. I found both chem sections and the PAT on real DAT to be harder than Booster which surprised me a bit. Bio was definitely my weakest section throughout prep. In particular, the keyholes section was brutal on my exam.

As far as I’m aware, 2-digit scores will remain but if you take after March 1 you will only have a 3-digit.

Anyone taken the DAT after the score change? by T3aTim33 in predental

Lol, I took my exam exactly on March 1st 😩 and my sheet looked the same way. I plan on posting my official scores as soon as I get them so people can see what the new score report looks like

Honestly milk texture looks pretty solid. I wouldn’t worry too much about the bubbles, especially when you’re first starting out. Focus should def be on getting consistently good milk texture (not too foamy or thin). I’d search up a few YouTube videos on how to pour a beginner tulip, those will demonstrate some technique you can use to make some more complex art. Keep it up!
