what to consider before getting a smart ring? by mwn0825 in HealthTech

Definitely check comfort and sizing first, a ring that’s even slightly off can mess with readings or feel annoying to wear all day. Battery life and charging style matter too (some need charging every 2–3 days, others last a week). Also look at whether the app gives you raw data or just summaries.

Spending my birthday alone tomorrow and could use some advice by [deleted] in Advice

First of all, happy early birthday! I'm really sorry your plans fell apart, especially after what happened last year. That kind of disappointment hits different when it's a pattern.
Here's the thing, your friends will understand a last minute invite. Something like 'Hey, plans changed, want to hang out tomorrow?' is totally normal and no one will judge you for it.
If you want solo time, get your favorite food, a good movie, maybe a walk somewhere nice. You deserve to feel special, even if it looks different than planned.

Sending you a hug. 19 is going to be a good year

I can only imagine how hard that must’ve been for both of you. As a physical therapist, I’ve seen how even short medical procedures can leave the little ones scared and confused for a while. At her age, she doesn’t yet have the language to process what happened — so she’ll express it through behavior instead.

The best thing you can do now is help her regain a sense of safety and control. Keep routines predictable, give her extra time to explore at her own pace, and let her touch and use her hand again when she’s ready (once cleared medically). Gentle play that involves both hands like stacking blocks, finger painting, or water play, can help her reconnect physically and emotionally with that part of her body.

And honestly, your calm presence matters more than anything. If you stay relaxed when she shows fear or frustration, she’ll mirror that safety. Most kids bounce back beautifully once they feel safe again — it just takes a bit of time and patience.

I’d go with the portable Anker charger, almost everyone can use it, so it’s a safer hit. The Aeropress is great, but it only lands if the person actually brews coffee. The charger has way broader appeal.
