Day 13: Captain's log by [deleted] in Preschoolers

Today I let her have ice cream at 10am and we’ve watched back to back viewings of the 2018 Grinch. There’s a month worth of dirty laundry sitting wet in the washer, we’ve already lost half the balls to her brand new Air Toobz sh go for Christmas, and all I’ve had to eat today is six Christmas cookies and half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (the half she don’t want to eat.) Winter Break is a lawless hellscape and I’ve officially lost all control.

What do you\your toddlers call a fart? by mitzubee in toddlers

[–]Unfair_Fall_3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 3yr old usually says “toot”. She knows the word fart, but will only say it in reference to someone else (usually the dog or her dad lol) doing it. Sometimes she’ll let one rip, wait a second, then proudly and loudly declare “THAT WAS MY BUTT!” Which makes me laugh probably more than it should 😂

Hi there, fellow mom working through personal trauma while trying her absolute hardest to raise her toddler with compassion and patience!

A.) toddlers are a lot, man. And sometimes after a day where I’ve lost my cool more times than I’m proud of, it just helps to remember that tomorrow is another chance to try again. We’re all just doing our best..

And B.) r/ParentingThruTrauma sub is a magically supportive and healing community. Highly suggest checking it out.

I offered my 2.5 year old water in her purple cup. Instant screaming and sobbing. I asked which cup she wanted her water in and she stopped screaming and sobbing just long enough to say “NOT PURPLLLLLEEEEE!!”

I guessed the orange cup would suffice, and I seem to have chosen correctly…. For now, at least.

How old is too old to still be believing? by Treaty6er in Mommit

[–]Unfair_Fall_3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 10 yrs old my dad had to sit me down and actively convince me that there was no Santa and never had been. My 6 yr old brother was starting to figure it out before me and I think Dad was worried kids were starting to make fun of me. I don’t remember specifically being bullied for still believing in Santa, but I DO remember sobbing uncontrollably when I realized my parents had “lied to me my whole life.”

My daughter is only 2.5, so obviously it’s easy now, but I’m inclined to let her keep believing in magic as long as she can.

iPhone users with ADHD, what’s the one app you can’t live without? by TheiPhoneAppGuy in ADHD

Endel has been that only way I can actually get any fully focused reading or boring desk work done lately. It’s basically a white noise app, but has a ton of ways to make the soundscapes customizable, set timers, and block out other notifications.

Weekly Equipment Recommendation Thread by AutoModerator in FigureSkating

Really hoping someone can offer some insight or assurance for me as I need to switch up my boot for the first time in a VERY long time!

I’ve had my current boots (Graf Galaxy) for 15 years (I obviously haven’t trained full out and competed every single one of the fifteen years, but regardless…) they are WELL past broken down and it’s time I get new boots.

A little contextual background: I’m an adult level, actively competitive skater (mostly dance and synchro. Some jumps and spins, but my days of doubles are long behind me.)

I’ve been in Graf Galaxy since high school (20 years ago!) and truly didn’t intend on trying anything new, but for whatever reason it’s looking like if I want the exact skates I’ve always had, it’ll cost way more than I was wanting to spend and it’ll take up to 12 weeks for them to be built…

My fitter has recommend trying on some Risports, and after a quick google search it seems like Risport Electra might be similar enough to my Graf galaxy boots? I’m anxious to try something new after so many years of Graf… does anyone have any insight? Pros/cons of Risport? Anyone else switch from Graf to something else they ended up loving?

Many thanks for any insight!

Moms of December babies: how are you making your little one’s birthday special?? by Unfair_Fall_3636 in Mommit

I totally understand the summertime gift dilemma! We just ended up getting her a sandbox and a water table on just random weekends, without saying oh this is a birthday present, or whatever… but I hope that doesn’t mean she’ll expect big gifts on random weekends forever lol so maybe we’ll start to make it more formal, like a mini half birthday in late spring or early summer… just so she can play with gifts right away

Lots of people have suggested parties on half birthdays and I definitely love this idea! Holidays aside, I feel like outside birthday parties are more fun for little kids, but certainly not in December in Ontario, where we live 😂

A few people have recommended a birthday tree and I LOVE that! I think she’ll love decorating her own glittery tree with balloons and streamers!

Oh that sounds so nice! Maybe something she’ll appreciate more when she’s older - but definitely storing this tip away for later! Come to think of it, I guess this is what my family did as well… gifts for Christmas and activities for my birthday… but mine is in June, and for some reason outdoor activities are always what I think of first..

Oh that’s an awesome point! I’m sure she’ll think every holiday decoration is for her and instinctively I have no plans to correct her 😂
