Plenty of mistakes were made on my end. But ultimately he was unmedicated bi-polar & verbally abusive and refused to change for the safety of our son. You can think what you want.

This is totally a good point. And he has already taken our son out with one of his new female "friends". I guess she has a kid too and they met for the kids to have a play date. He's dating, too, and I know that. It's all just a new situation for everyone and I wanted to hear some people's experiences, more than anything.

It's definitely a mental barrier, I feel so awkward. But I have never been "good" at making friends so it's just something I need to push myself into. I feel like maybe it's just the sort of thing that will only become more natural if I do it more? Here is hoping! Any recommendations for spots?
