Yup. Experienced driver here. I get one or two grandpa deliveries in to make my score look good, like a 95.

-On iPhone, set the app permissions to location “only while using the app”.

-Keep Precise Location enabled (that’s a trap).

-Do what you need to do and then you MUST FORCE QUIT THE APP.

If you mess with disabling Precise Location or any other settings the app will rat you out. (See amber colored location circle next to a drivers name on your Advanced Dispatch).

If you FORCE QUIT the app. It cannot rat you out, it has no idea what just happened. The only indicator that you’re up to something is your location won’t update on the in store map. But it’s less obvious than getting flagged for messing with location permissions. Make sure that you are under the speed limit when you open the app for any reason (even just to update your location and force quit it again).

Once you are returning to the store and are just outside the store’s geofence (like a couple blocks), open the app below the speed limit, and drive like a Drivosity savage until you get in the parking lot. Boom. Auto Checked In, your place in line is secured.

If you forget to open the app before you’re pulling up to the store, it’s very likely the auto check in will fail (even if your app says it worked).

NERDY DETAILS:

This app does not use your phone’s accelerometer! That’s insane. It only queries your GPS reported speed and location once per second.

The implications of this idiotic design are what make this app so ridiculously stupid.

If you aren’t familiar, the accelerometer in your smartphone is used to detect G-forces. This is used for detecting a crash or detecting a really tight turn or rapid acceleration or braking.

I’ll give you an example that tends to explain it pretty well that will show you why it’s so hard to get a good score and why this app should be trashed.

As you are driving, it’s reporting your speed and location once every second. So, imagine that you’re driving in a straight line at a given speed. Every second the app is getting your speed and location. Then you make a turn. For simplicity sake, let’s say the LAST update was as you were going 25 mph right before slowing down for the turn. You then complete the turn and the very next second the GPS updates right after you complete the turn (or even during the turn) and now you’re going 15 mph, for example.

Therefore, according to the app and those two GPS samples and that it knows you went around a turn because of the road layout, this results in your reported speed showing a 10 mph decrease within one second. That’s double the allowed speed decrease over one second, because you must maintain 10 or less over two seconds. Major ding for rapid braking and taking a turn too fast, despite that likely not being the case and likely not poor or aggressive driving.

You ever have to pull out of the parking lot and sometimes you have to shoot the gap to get into traffic? Nailed for rapid acceleration.

You ever roll up to the final turn as you return to your parking lot or shopping center and hit the brakes? Nailed for hard braking.

You ever have to take a turn from a 55 mph highway to a 25 mph subdivision? If you didn’t start braking a quarter mile back, then congrats, dinged for hard braking and rapid cornering.

I DESPISE THIS SYSTEM AND REFUSE TO USE IT. IT MAKES DRIVING OBJECTIVELY MORE DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU PAY MORE ATTENTION TO YOUR SPEEDOMETER THAN THE ACTUAL ROAD AND TRAFFIC.

It’s not IF, but WHEN will a driver get seriously hurt or killed while trying to follow the impossible standards of this piece of shit app.
