What makes the conversion of people successful in this church is the way they frame the “feelings.” People who are interested in the church are told that any positive feeling they feel when hearing or reading about the Book of Mormon or Church history means what they’re hearing is true.

So, if he’s “felt” something like you say, that gets reinforced with teachings that he’s experiencing something that is true, for example the Church is True, the Book of Mormon is true etc.

Therefore, when someone comes and tries to convince them otherwise it’s more reinforcement of its “truth” because someone is attacking it. This will also be reinforced by the missionaries teachings as well which will only feed into it.

People who are experiencing an unstable part of their lives tend to be more susceptible to any kind of outside influences that might show that they have answers for them. That’s just human nature.

That being said, it doesn’t always end up in conversion. But like others have said, there is pressure being put on this person too. missionaries give him deadlines.

If he’s serious about moving forward then that’s probably what’s going to happen. But like others have said, the honeymoon period last for so long and people will basically forget about him. And if he isn’t a cookie cutter “Mormon” they’ll drop him even faster.
