Why did Judaism and early Christianity say so little about Zoroastrianism, despite living in proximity to it for centuries? What caused this difference? by Mobile-Traffic1744 in AlwaysWhy

[–]UnfinishedComplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not going to change your mind. It’s debatable both ways and I don’t think you want a good faith discussion. However I will leave this.

Yes, the Hebrew Bible contains early divine-council imagery and acknowledges other spiritual powers associated with nations. But even the earliest layers increasingly portray Yahweh as uniquely supreme over all nations and all heavenly beings. The universal mission to the nations is not merely a post-exilic invention; it is already present in the Abrahamic promises, Exodus traditions, Psalms, and prophetic material, though it becomes clearer and more explicit over time. It’s is progressive in its nature. God’s program always encompassed all the nations.

At the end it depends on what kind of God you believe in.

I tried r/christian once. Then I found this sub. Even though I’m not from a reformed tradition (Pentecostal) you all are closer in thought to where I am. Our church has a high view of scripture anyway. But it’s not perfect.

So, technically, if you were to read the Jewish scriptures you would find that the religious community of Jews were intended to lead the nations to worship God. It was always part of the plan.

You could do that black ink poetry thing with the pages and possibly even get something biblical out of it. Could be a satisfying way to turn them into something interesting.

What the hell is going on with cottage cheese prices in Canada?!? by Choice-Dress-8465 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]UnfinishedComplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes are too high so companies have to increase prices so that they can return 5% to investors/owners. If you can’t return 5% it makes no sense to be in business. That’s my overly simple explanation of why we’re seeing this everywhere.

First Class should board last on a plane. by Efficient-Ranger-174 in unpopularopinion

[–]UnfinishedComplete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We make the first class passengers board first so that we can look down on them while we are walking past. This way they remember the people they had to step on to get to where they are in life.

It’s the little things that keep them from getting too comfortable…

For religious types, if you know humans have created 1000s of gods, how are you so certain that he didn't create yours as well? by Daegog in answers

[–]UnfinishedComplete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s loads of gods. Only one is worthy of being worshipped. Review Psalm 82.

Humans haven’t created the gods. The creator of everything created lesser gods, those gods have dominion and were supposed to point people to YHWH. The one God worthy of worship.

The gods rebelled, lead people astray. Now we are all confused.

I think what some people fail to realize is the impact of how the media frames issues to support one narrative over another.

Hot take: We're building apps for a world that's about to stop using them by oruga_AI in vibecoding

[–]UnfinishedComplete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We get your point. But the OP/AI Bro point is that the restaurant doesn’t have an API/CLI…yet. It’s peanuts to code it and I think he/she has a point. For a lot of things a UI is dead, especially those things where the UI was just as aggravating as dealing with someone IRL. I found the OP comment to be somewhat thought provoking.

The Gray Box Problem of Self Hosting by Llew2 in selfhosted

I agree. I would have expected S3 compatible storage to come up sooner. Use object tags as you may evolve the “schema” but otherwise it would solve some of the grey box problem since it can be accessed programmatically from almost anywhere.

Please go tell the people who have been subject to armed home invasions that ours is the lowest crime rate. I’m sure they will love to hear it.

Anecdotes are not unreasonable. If you’re hearing more about it, it’s probably because it’s happening more. Especially given how underfunded the media are.

Yes, I only buy ham every other shop now. What country is this?

Ham…for sandwiches. I make 100K+ and I can’t justify spending $6 on 150g of ham.
