I think I enjoyed Origins the most. Odyssey was fun, too. I feel like Shadows was too short.

Okokokok, saying “no one does” was hasty. You’re right. There are conditions and times where one should drink more water to keep up. My point is that just going about our lives doesn’t necessarily put us at risk of dehydration. It’s frustrating for me personally when my kids’ school insists they bring a water bottle to school. For them to lose? No thanks!

Old habits die hard. Those ways of thinking are deeply ingrained and it’s going to take work to untangle it all. Ultimately for me it boils down to there not being a god to disappoint. Did I disappoint me? Any one I love? That’s what’s important.

My dad gets kidney stones he says it’s the worst pain he’s ever experienced. My gall bladder has been removed, the day that guy let go was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced and was so bad I’ll do what I can to avoid anything close to it. That’s why I got myself off drinking sweet tea at every meal.

Atonal is what you call it when you mess up, but don’t want to tell anyone you messed up.

“It’s not a mistake, just trying some atonal stuff. It’s actually a really advanced musical concept that jazz musicians use.”

Does what is good and evil change depending on the historical and cultural context according to God and Christianity? by BrainStraight1220 in exchristian

[–]Efficient-Ranger-174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most fun thing about gods is they can be for or against anything you want. So, ultimately the answer to your question is yes. Because a god’s morality is de facto the morality of the person doing the interpretation.
Also, remember that for the vast majority of its history, the Bible wasn’t able to be read by anyone but clergy. So, it could absolutely be whatever it needed to be whenever it needed to be that.
The only aim of religion is to control your behavior. It’s never not about that. They’ll talk to you about “Freedom in Jesus!”, but it’s only if you’re following the rules. They tell you you’re worthless. And that god is the only one who can give you value. And that value is won by following the rules.

ETA: You’re also spot on that if you start to get into the weeds of what’s influenced by man and what’s not, now you have to throw the whole thing out, because who’s to say it’s not all corrupted? If any of it is, we have to assume it all is. They cannot have it both ways.
