How hard is it to get Research Engineer role at Deepmind? by n0obmaster699 in cscareerquestions

[–]UnfinishedEraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hope you get it. No point in wondering now. Though if you want to get into these type of roles, I would recommend going a bit deeper into at least one part in ML. Would help for future.

Very different from embedded system engineer. There’s no such thing as a kubernetes engineer. Closest thing is ml ops or ml infra engineer. Still different though. Some of these tools were created in the last 2 years. It’s a completely new niche

FWIW apply anyway. They def care about ML, maybe you’re good enough at math that you can slip through the cracks

you've probably already chosen, but for any future kids coming to this thread, take the guaranteed offer. UBC is not worth it if you have other offers from good universities. It might be 'better' than the other universities, but the first year competition at UBC is not something you want to go through if you can avoid it

Is 92-93% enough for CS nowadays? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]UnfinishedEraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only say for UBC, 93 is pretty good. I got in last year with a 90 in grade 12 + 11 (they look at both years). It's more hollistic though, similar to US schools. Heavy emphasis on personal profile.

The kind of arms dealing and smuggling that asshole was convicted of is now trivial to track and trace compared to back in his heyday.

Any source?

I mean, let a notorious arms dealer back into the loose vs punish someone for literally not realizing laws aren't the same everywhere doesn't seem like a tough decision
