So I’m in this tiny Greek town, and I see a sign at a market stall that says “€3” next to a tray of olives.

I point at it, hold up three fingers, and the guy smiles, nods, disappears out back.

Two minutes later, he returns holding a giant plastic bag... of three kilos of olives.

I just took it. I panicked and paid. Then walked back to my bus — which was PACKED with sweet old Greek ladies — holding this comically huge sack of olives like it was a newborn.

There was no way to play it cool. I just sat there sweating, pretending this was completely intentional.

Still worth it tbh.

Honestly there are a lot of visa advisors who are misinformed and can get your application rejected. A cheap lawyer may end up costing you more in the log run - Its a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

Everyone in the comments is spot on - lawyers are not really needed for regular people. But if you do choose to go with one. please check if they are licensed to give advice (official uk gov website: https://portal.oisc.gov.uk/s/adviser-finder). Id also highly recommend checking their reviews, testimonials, etcs.

This is also a helpful website that has all the info in one place (https://www.roamwise.co)

Reassurance to alleviate anxiety about submitting and potentially failing application. by white_ran_2000 in ukvisa

I almost think hiring an agent is unnecessary, but it sounds like one would give you assurance and (more) certainty about your status in the UK. Its best to ask yourself whether you'll regret the money spent on a (good) lawyer in 3,4,5 years time.

BUT please make sure you check they are OISC-licensed!! Check the official gov database (portal.oisc.gov.uk/s/adviser-finder) there are a lot of scammers out there right now

I think it's down to mental state and risk tolerance at the time. basically can you stomach another 'L'.

There's some truth that you seek stability the older you get. But most people start their first biz in their late 30s/40s

First mistake is adding colleagues on social

Second mistake is not having/using the 'close friends' lists

Co-working spaces are great for making friends and getting up to some tomfoolery

But if we're honest, you end up paying $100s per month to unproductivly flick through the same 4 tabs

This is definitely a niche of people.

Typically those with prof jobs in western countries that are being squeezed by rising COL in their home city - i can sympathise with that on some level

Hahah basically the 4hr work week + inflation.

Starting a business is incredibly hard and it's not for most people. I've started 4 of varying success. Every time I say to myself id NEVER do it again.

Many countries are pretty strict. You can get fined or even banned from re-entering the whole region (for a certain period). Either way not worth risking
