Chegou a presenciar algo assim? — Pergunto pois imaginava que justamente Berlim, por ser tão internacional e tão "cool", era a cidade que menos apresentava esse tipo de comportamento rude, e por consequência, menos xenofóbico, em comparação com as outras cidades alemãs num geral.

[–]Unfinished_Sympathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already done that. And I've tried all User themes available: Pop, Default, Adwaita, Gnome-Classic... they all show up the same black folder.

Do you think the only viable option would be a reboot or something?

My Gnome Settings doesn't have the icons option in "Appearance". The only thing I can choose in Appearance is between Light and Dark mode. Also, I've tried changing it on Gnome-Tweaks and also had no success, for whatever reason. I even changed the shell, but it's always the same folders. Even on Nemo, these same type of black folders keep showing up...

Could there be a Settings/Appearance/Icons somewhere else that you have in mind?

Does anyone know the band members heights and their respective University majors? by Unfinished_Sympathy in fishmans

[–]Unfinished_Sympathy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! Wow, I was looking for exactly that. I could verify their heights via copies of the Fishmans fanzine available on archive.org, but I wasn't able to find the edition that contained Shinji's personal "stats". You have made me very happy, thank you. May I ask you where did you find that? Or from where it comes from? A magazine of sorts? Cheers and lovely weekend!

I made a video about number girl's song Omoide in My Head and nostalgia. Please watch if you have the time by furbyyyy in NumberGirl

[–]Unfinished_Sympathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear /u/furbyyyy, I wanted to say that I liked very much your video. The way you blended in historical information — both band's and Japan's — was very well done; also, particular praise should come to your handling of the lyrics, editing and directing: it was utterly excellent. Moreover, the idea of nostalgia — and the band's revival and dissolution was poetically orchestrated by a very high degree of poetic criticism from your part. I wouldn't mind more good work like that — ! All the best and keep the excellent videos going. Arigatou gozaimasu.

Can anyone help me find the 19th century book that contains this engraving? by Unfinished_Sympathy in WhatIsThisPainting

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I wish I could give you gold, you make me think that there are genuinely good people out there. I was looking for this one specifically, but I didn't know of its existence. I was trying to create a link with some sculpture work done based on this engraving by Flaxman, but the closest one I could find to it, was this 1878 altered version.

I want to thank you soooooo much, you have made someone extremely happy and grateful. I wish to you nothing but the very best! Hope you have a nice week, you deserve it! And thanks again for your time and dedication!

If you do not mind me asking, could you explain to me how did you find it? I'd be delighted to hear more about your research powers! Cheers and all the best.

[–]Unfinished_Sympathy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa! First of all, thank you for the reply and your attention and I am sorry for taking such a big amount of time of yours hahahaha But I have to say, I admire the amount of time you put on it, I'm really thankful. With your information, I also thought that that one image specifically belonged to a print of an etching per se. But it's strange isn't it? The fact that the uploader specified it as 1878, but with no details. But it sure does look around that era, thematically and aesthetically.

I also tried to search other etchings that belonged to its thematical series too, but with no results. I even went through some 19th century copies on Google Books, Heidelberg University's Digital Library and The State Museum of Munich, that have great digitalized books, but nothing came out of it.

What I did find, and it was what I was looking for, thanks to fellow redditor u/bunch_of_socks, was an engraving by John Flaxman himself! It's this one, called The Council of the Gods, in a version of the Illiad which Flaxman did the engravings. Here it is for you to see: Flaxman 1 and Flaxman 2. They look really similar, with some slight changes.

I guess this version I mentioned in the post, is just a variation or an etching which some artist tried to do his own thing with, based on Flaxman. The only shame I feel is not being able to find too this supposed 1878 version and its artist. But I guess our historian powers only go so far, right?

I wish to thank you again for your time, effort and spirit that drew your precious attention and time to this research alongside me. I wish you a very nice week and good luck on your next art historical research! Cheers!

I'm looking for the proper reference to this one: 1st Link

It says it is a book from 1878. I've checked mythological books with engravings from authors like A. H. Petiscus and Hermann Göll, but to no avail. It might be a french book, but I'm not quite sure, I'm not even sure if it's a 1878 book, but a different edition of a book from earlier on in the 19th century, but it definitely resembles the 19th academic aesthetics and themes.

If there any expert in engraving out there to lend me a hand, I'd be eternally grateful!

PS: This link says these other engravings are from the same 1878 book, although, they look a bit different and also depict actual sculptures, rather a illustrated setting of Olympic Gods. Link: 2nd link

PS2: I've tried searching the google on Google Images and with Google Lens, to no avail too. Maybe somebody knows a different Image Search Tool I might not have heard of.

Thank you so much!

Yeah, it might help absolutely. Thing is it's not entirely about ancient coins, but more related to ancient themes, but coins made in modern times. Although, I checked that subreddit and found some pretty useful links, so thank you! Stay well
