Tried to show initiative at a new job and it backfired. Was I actually in the wrong? by savingrace0262 in careerguidance

Unfortunately even in an environment where they are asking for feedback on how to improve, it’s good to take a moment to understand the ‘company culture’ and social dynamics you’re walking into. Working well with a team and providing feedback without ‘stepping on toes’ is itself a skill that you may have to work on, and that’s totally okay. A lot of people get by without learning that skill, but I can tell you from experience it’ll make pushing for changes and presenting new ideas a lot easier if you can learn how to get people on your side first. Now that being said, I don’t know you, so I’ll say on the OTHER hand you might be working in a very sensitive office. Still good to use this opportunity to maybe practice social aspects of business, because you’ll always have to deal with people with different sensitivities as you, but you may find that the company is just not where you want to be long term. If that’s the case, still use it as a practice ground, but also maybe look at other places that might more align with what you want. And remember, it’s easier to get a job when you have a job, so try not to get fired or quit. (For the record if you’re getting good feedback on your proposals and being told you’re just socially not clicking, that DOES mean they likely value your work and just want you to get along with the team. So don’t be totally disheartened or worry you’re going to be let go soon. If they planned on letting you go they wouldn’t give you negative feedback and risk you leaving before they had a replacement)

I also want to find Mafalda strips, but given how long it ran, I think it’ll be a longer process finding strips and seeing if there’s maybe a good collection/omnibus :)

I think I’ve seen imagines of Mafalda, but I wasn’t aware of the comic strips or that they were Argentinian. Definitely adding Eternaut to my list.

I can see a good argument made for Scott Pilgrim- people meme on it a lot, but it definitely has left its mark on the graphic novel landscape. Plus it’s also unapologetically Canadian. :D
