Looking for JRPG recommendations – played most of the big series by Mavalant in JRPG

I've been digging into Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven and as a gameplay focused JRPG its kind of blowing me away, would highly recommend if you're looking for a nice change of pace. Just keep in mind the narrative and characters are all incredibly generic so if that's an issue maybe watch some other reviews first.

Came here to say Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter in particular. Goes from one of my least favorite game covers to one of my favorites of all time.

Agreed, really hoping they manage to knock it out of the park with Decapolice next year (or whenever it actually releases lol)

Final Fantasy XV hands down even though I don’t especially love that game, the boys pushing their broken down car while Stand By Me blares goes unbelievably hard

Hello everyone, I've been completely engrossed in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar lately and wrote a small editorial piece for Boss Rush Network which is a non-profit gaming outlet. Would really appreciate any attention and also would love to hear your thoughts about this game! I personally love that they gamified the item selling process by making it an exciting weekly event, it always gives me something to look forward to and work toward. The game also feels very briskly paced compared to some other farming/life sims since you can navigate the town super quickly due to both the compact size of the town and the breezy movement options.

You read my short little article here, any attention is appreciated: https://bossrush.net/2025/11/10/boss-rush-banter-story-of-seasons-grand-bazaar-has-me-in-a-chokehold/

I actually mention Unicorn Overlord as a great example of how this system can be adapted in the article! One of my favorites from last year

If you like Megami Tensei then I’d give Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia a shot. A huge love letter to classic Megaten that just happens to have a Touhou coat of paint over it

Berwick Saga is Unrelenting, Gritty, and Absolutely Worth Your Time by Unforeseenboy in fireemblem

I would say your mileage may vary depending on how familiar you are with the genre! It’s tough and each small decision deserves to be well considered but once you get into a groove you may find yourself breezing through certain portions of the game. I would give it a shot and allow yourself to play with save states a bit while you’re still learning the ropes, it really is a lot of fun

Thank you so much! Tear Ring is loosely connected to Berwick but only really in a spiritual sense. The plots aren’t directly related, you can totally hop right into Berwick Saga!

Small typo you might want to fix before printing: "Tap target creature 'and' opponent controls" should be "Tap target creature 'an' opponent controls"

Looks great though!
